How to Crochet a Lemon Stress Ball!

The Craft Yarn Council asked me to help them create a pattern for a stress ball. When life gives you lemons.... squeeze 'em!

Hello, I love your pattern, so easy to follow, I filled my lemons with balloons filled with flour, corn starch didn't work for me. I actually followed a lady on KZbin who used an empty water bottle and corn starch. I didn't like the way they felt with corn starch so I used flour instead and they worked great. I am making 20 for my daughter, she will give them to random people in her college. I am loving this challenge and it's amazing how much Joy crocheting can bring into someone's life. Vanessa Meza at what row did you fill the balloons with the flour? Also did you prefix the balloons with flour and then put them in the crocheted lemon at a certain round or did you put the balloon inside and fill the balloon with flour at a certain row?

I tried your pattern to save a Isoflex stress ball, it worked :) (The outer cover had ripped all to shreds! Yuck!) I basically crocheted around what was left when I removed the outer cover. Worked great and now it has a lot tougher cover! Thank you, and if anyone else wants to try that, make sure you stuff the clip/top down the stem.

if you leave a long enough tail you could sew those holes closed, just a whip stitch through the hole below to above and go all the way round, then weave remaining tail...

Cool. Perhaps at a later date you will publish another book. Possibilities are endless aren't they? My grandkids would love some of them too. I was thinking that the cute cupcake dishcloth can double as a bath cloth if made in cotton. Great church Bazaar item or Country Fair....etc etc

My grandmother used to make throw pillows and she stuffed them with plastic grocery bags. I'm wondering if you could stuff the lemon with those ... yes I know it would make crinkle noises when ever you squeeze it, which could be fun in the same vane as popping bubble wrap :)

nthnyvt14 I didn't collect this much yarn on purpose :). It just happens over the course of the years. Just focus on buying yarn for each project you want to make. The explosion that is my craft room will happen naturally :P

Forgive me for being such an idiot but I am new to this and thinking about giving knitting/crocheting a try to relieve stress... but can someone tell me what exactly is the difference between crocheting and knitting? Bc I saw a knitting video for a hat, and it looks similar to what she's doing even though she says it's more focused on crocheting.. so I'm really confused XD

It's ok! Crocheting and knitting use different tools and techniques. When you crochet, you use a hook, while knitting uses two needles. It's a bit difficult to explain the differences with just typing, but if you watch a video of crocheting and a video of knitting, you can probably see the differences in the techniques and finished product. Sorry I'm not super helpful though :)

If you're looking for stress relief, crocheting and knitting are super great!! I like to crochet to keep my hands busy personally, and do it while I watch tv or netflix :)

Hi! I suggest watching some more beginner videos from other KZbinrs to brush up on some basic skills. I go over how to work basic stitches, but I'm more focused on fun projects than actually teaching basic skills to beginners. I'm sorry you found it frustrating! Just keep practicing.
