Hello! I went and tried to get auto-captioning for all my tutorials just now. Most of them worked immediately, but a handful of them didn't generate for some reason, including this one. I wonder if it randomly takes more time for some videos than others, or if KZbin is not allowing the auto-caption for some reason.

It's June 2024 and I JUST completed this cupcake dish cloth and I'm OVERJOYED! It's been on my bucket list since I first saw this video in 2014. Considering this was my first try, it came out beautifully! Although, I likely mixed up the front loops and back loops when attaching the scallops and the cake, because when I worked the cake stitches, they were all "backwards and upside down". The front posts were likely back posts... oh well- aside from the entire internet, no one needs to know LOL! I used two strands of cotton yarn throughout to make it more thick and dense. I adjusted the hanging loop stitches to 25 to suit my needs, because I will be hanging it as decor. For the last row of the cake, I did half double crochet instead of single crochet- which helped to prevent a lot of the curling, and gave the cupcake a taller, sleaker, more "majestic" look. I'd like to play around with substituting SC stitches with HDC stitches in the cake to see if it'll result in zero curling. But for now, I'm super happy I finally got the chance to DO this! I learned SO MUCH from making this one, and gained so many skills I can now use in the future! Fawn 😊
@TwinkieChanTV27 күн бұрын
Hi Fawn! Thanks so much for sharing your experiences and experiments!
@thethriftyfawn27 күн бұрын
@@TwinkieChanTV No problem! I did try experimenting with half double crochet stitches afterwards on a separate sample cake piece, but I couldn't figure it out lol. However, I will DEFINITELY continue with using a row of HDC stitches for the very last row, because it truly stopped the curling at the base of the project (in my case at least). My husband actually thought the cupcake dish cloth was CUTE! That says a lot because he doesn't often make comments like that about cute things lol. He also got a bit upset when I decided to move it out of the kitchen, out of fear he would slosh food on it LOL! 😂 My best friend's birthday is coming up in August, so I'm considering making one as a gift. My best friend is a guy, but he definitely thought the dish cloth looked stunning, intricate, and was in disbelief it was made from crochet! Perhaps if I secretly made one with aqua blue frosting, and cream colored cake- that could possibly work for a guy 😊 Thanks again for all you do, I really appreciate it! 🩷

I love that this pattern isn't in the round -- it gets so hard to see the stitches in super small round things, and BLO would be even harder. My little shrimp came out great and is so accurately proportioned -- much better than another pattern I've tried! Thank you!

Probably! I haven't done it. To keep the shaping, I would probably put heavyweight interfacing on the bottom and sides, or I would cut a foam block for the bottom portion and use polyfil in the top/round portion. Let me know how it goes and what you decide!
