My grand daughter asked me to crochet her an old fashioned "satchel" which would be something travelers would carry potions and other objects in for her as she needs it for the Comicon that is coming up this summer. I am thinking that I would be able to work with this, only instead of the closures adding a crocheted strip across the front for the flap to tuck into. THANK YOU for posting this Tutorial!!

A gray background will help most cameras white balance the high and low lights enough to see the black more clearly if you ever want to use black in a video again and want to avoid lighting issues even more.

To cut nylon webbing and strapping, either get an electric knife (it looks like a plug-in scalpel), or heat a scalpel or craft knife blade over a candle or stove burner. Cut quickly. The ends will melt. :) There's a Clover mini-iron, about $40-60, that has a knife attachment, and is great to get sharp corners in fabric. Get the Mini Iron II or whatever the name is, if possible. It's covered in bells and whistles.

I haven't made it yet, but my school is making a rule where you cant bring your backpack into class at all. So I'm planning on using a twine and crocheting a bag. I'm probably going to print out the definition of a backpack and put several sheets of it in there. Or I could get white fabric and put it on the back and embroider the definition.
