Update: for anyone trying to use this star pattern with the sun and moon tote bag. There are only 4 rounds for the pattern in this video but the sun and moon squares for the tote bag have 5 rounds. So, to make them equal size you need one round of single crochet with the same color between the 3rd round and the last round when you switch to your different color. Missing round for tote: •ch 1 * •sc until corner •[corner](2sc, ch2, 2sc) •rpt from * •sl st continue final round with new color Good luck crafty people c:

Here's what that looks like full written out! Star Granny Square Pattern (Alyssia Creates, to match sun and moon squares) Materials: Worsted Weight Yarn 4.0mm hook Round 1: In magic circle, ch 2, work 15 hdc into circle, sl st into first hdc to join (skip ch 2) (15 st) Round 2: *Ch 5, sc into 2nd ch from hook, hdc into next chair, dc in next, tc into last ch. Skip 2 hdc from previous round and sl st into 3rd stitch. Rep from* until end of round. Sl st to join and FO. Round 3: Join next color with sc to the top sc st of one of the star points. *In the next 3 stitches, 1 hdc, 1 dc, 1 tc. Skip sl st from prev round. In next 4 stitches, 1 tc, 1 dc, 1 hdc, 1 sc. Rep from * around. Sl st in first sc to join. (40) Round 4: Ch 2 (counts as first hdc), dc into next 2 sts, *(tc, ch2, tc) into next st to form corner. I’m confused because in this video the star has 5 rounds and the moon and sun patterns I bought have 4 so wouldn’t the moon and sun need an extra round not the star
@kosmiconnexions
@kosmiconnexions 8 ай бұрын
Sorry for the confusion, I only counted the star as one round, she counts it as two, if you want to make the tote bag with this pattern and the others you will still need an extra round. I tested it over the summer while making a star and moon bag @@hannahdoesart9955

@@hannahdoesart9955 i doubt youre still curious, but for anyone else who sees this, the extra row is not necessary in my experience! Im making a tote and made both moons and stars as instructed and they match up perfectly

this was awesome, thank you!! ive never done a crochet project before, I barely know the names of the stitches, but with this video I was able to make two pretty decent looking squares! i even think ill be able to follow the patterns now that I kinda have the basics down. and since I know they have photos. this probably wasn't meant to be someones introduction to crochet, but oop, there it is. and these patterns inspired me and now I gotta make a blanket like the one I saw on tumblr. probably not something someone would recommend as a first crochet project, but oh well

Thank you!! I hope you enjoy the pattern! If you got the pattern that is just the granny squares, the amount of yarn for each colour on the squares separately is on page 2 of the pattern. As for the star square from this tutorial, I didn’t measure the amount of yarn I used so I am not quite sure but I imagine it’d be similar to the other squares :)

I cannot for the life of me, get this to come out right with 15 stitches ( not counting the chain 2 for the start). Does anyone have any suggestions on what I may be doing wrong??? It is 15 half double crochets around the ring not including the starter chain Two right???
@Aimeimi
@Aimeimi Жыл бұрын
Exactly, it is 15 hdc around the ring + the starter 2 chain. You need to be careful to slip stitch in the first half double stitch when you close the circle, and always skip 2 stitches and slip into the 3rd one when working the triangles; also, be careful when counting the stitches to skip for the first triangle: since you do a slip stitch at the end of the base circle, you might end up counting part of the slip stitch as one stitch, but it's not, so be very careful about that. Apart from that it's not too difficult to count the stitches to skip, so that might be what you are doing wrong!

I learned how to make a chain in intermediate school but nothing beyond that, now I can do all the stitches you show in this video (tho I am having so much trouble wrapping my head around magic circles, everyone makes them look so easy)! Definitely picking up the other patterns after my next payday, thank you for making all the stitches so easy to understand (the labelling really helped a lot, too)!

Hi! For the corners on round 4, are you placing both triple crochets in the same stitch? If not, that is the only thing I can think of for maybe why you are 4 stitches short without seeing what you have. Let me know if that helps or not so I can try to figure out another reason why that is happening! Thanks!

This star pattern does not match the size of the squares for the bag, it kind of matched for the small drawstring pouch because it has one less round. How can I make this star pattern to work with your hand bag pattern? Do i add an extra round of double crochets or hdc? I will keep experimenting with it. Bought the sun and moon patterns. The pattern is very easy and simple to follow. As well there are very detailed photos of what to do if you do not understand all the crazy text. 100% Love and can't wait to make some squares.

I haven’t been able to make a granny square yet until now!! This tutorial was so helpful :) tbh the only part I got lost on was the final round with starting the new color, but I figured it out! Awesome tutorial, would love one for the sun and moon!

Is there a way to prevent the yarn from opening while you’re crocheting? I keep struggling with it and when it unravels on the hook I can’t pull it out to complete the stitch 😭

For anyone who wants free moon and sun patterns: Moon granny square pattern by Kristine's Day on youtube will fit this pattern, and for the sun pattern, knotting hook crochet has a really nice sun pattern that will also fit these.

You can BUY the other two in pdf format. 😹 It's really too bad. I will have to find a different free pattern because I just don't have extra money to buy patterns.

She makes money by selling crochet patterns, she works hard to make these videos and even getting one of them in a free format is something to be grateful for. If you want the other patterns you can find them elsewhere online or you can buy the patterns from her

Directions ARE correct, followed it step by step, have made 5 now. If you can’t follow directions correctly or it’s out of your SKILL SET, that’s a personal problem. Don’t go leaving negative comments when you’re the issue.
