Just finished making this!!! It is so cute!! I made mine bigger for my huge ass water bottle and the only modification I had to make was make the base larger. Another commenter mentioned that to make the circle base larger just do two double crotchet in one stitch and then do 1 double crochet in the next 2 stitches and then for the next round do 2 double crochets in one stitch and then 3 double crochets in the next 3 stitches and then for the next row do 2 double crochets in the same stitch and 4 double crochets in the next 4 stitches so on and so on until you get the base circle as big as you need!

Had to modify for a 34 oz. stainless steel hydro bottle, but used techniques from a polka dot blanket to make the base bigger, a couple more cluster rows to handle the height, plus a wider band to handle the weight. It's making a nice little pouch to just slide the bottle into. Thanks for the clear instruction and the sturdy design.

Hi!! I’m so excited to have made one of these, thanks to your tutorial! Regarding the ending, once the handle is finished, how do I go about weaving the ends? Do I have to cut the slipknot and then weave the rest in, or how does that work? I’m too afraid to do something wrong and ruin what I’ve made, so any advice would be great!
@maidenpietown2 жыл бұрын
Thank you! When I finish the handle, I make sure to leave a long enough strand of yarn to stitch the handle to the the other side. Once it is stitched to the other side, I weave in the ends. When I do more tutorials I will make sure to show parts like that. I hope this helps.

How would I make the base of this bigger? I want it to be able to fit a large hydro flask. It’s probably a silly question but I’m still very new to crocheting!
@irenejansen19033 жыл бұрын
Hi, maybe i can help. In the round you stitch two double crochet into the same stitch. After that you do one double crochet into the next stitch and the one after that. So an increase and then two normal ones etc. For the next round (when you want to make the base bigger) you continue doing this but adding one extra normal stitch. So 2 double crochet in the same stitch (increase) and then in the next three stitches are normal double crochets. I realise this may sound confusing but you can search for how to crochet a circle. It is the same thing :)

Not sure if this comment is too late for you. I was wondering the same thing so I tried this. After row 3 I kept increasing by doing 2 dc in one stitch, then one dc in the next 3 stitches. I stopped there and it made a holder that snugly fits my 1000ml Nalgene bottle. If I were to do it over I’d probably add one more row increasing the same way: 2 dc in the same stitch, then one dc in the next four stitches. I hope that makes sense!

Hello! The base is fairly stretchy. I can get a wine bottle to fit in mine. However, you can either go up a hook size or continuing increasing the base by 8 more stitches after you crochet the first round of 32 stitches. I hope that made sense!

How do you calculate how many rounds to do for the bottom before u start the sides? I have a bottle bigger than yours 😅
@maidenpietown3 жыл бұрын
The body of the water bottle holder is in multiples of 8. To make it a little bigger, you can do a few more rounds when crocheting the base. You can increase stitches when making the base. Just make sure you start the body of the water bottle with a multiple of eight. I have 32 for mine, so you might want to try 40 stitches. If that isn’t big enough, try 48. You can also try using a bigger hook and that might work too. Thank you.

@Jo Anne Paril I used acrylic yarn for this project, it worked pretty well but I think cotton would be much more durable overtime and it seems to not stretch as much as the acrylic does. But short answer is that acrylic is alright and still looks great however cotton yarn would be ideal :)
