Most tutorials don't instruct to send the needle through the yarn fibers, but rather to go through yarn openings. This is an excellent video. Everything is perfectly explained and while it does repeat things you already know if you've been crocheting for at least a few weeks, the commentary doesn't get annoying. Also, this has the best explanation for weaving in ends I've seen. I haven't been able to find a good way to weave the ends in!
