hi Laura, the pattern starts with a magic ring. If that is the issue, you can either look for a tutorial on that or start with a chain (4 or 5 chains should be sufficient), join the last chain to the first to form a ring and then start row 1. the problem with this alternative is that it is not adjustable, so you may end with a small hole at the center of the scrubbies. the magic ring sounds difficult but once you learn it’s very useful for all sorts of crochet projects.
