i love this pattern so much! however, i don’t get along very well with the magic ring so if anyone else is like me in that sense a chain 5, slip stitch in the first chain to connect and then using that as the ring was the perfect size for me! Kelzy, I never even heard of a magic ring, I learned 45 years ago, tried to make a few items, granny sq, fail, chevron fail. thought I would try my hand at it again. when I learned, it was as you said with your chain, I sat across from someone left handed, so I had been picking up my yarn wrong, so I found out. I was getting anxious over "magic ring" sounds like if that don't work for me, I can do old school. thanks

Hello! Love the way these look! I was wondering if you have a video on how to weave in the excess yarn or if you could explain how to weave in the yarn? TIA!
@SweetSofties
@SweetSofties 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much! I'll keep this in mind for future videos -- I think it'd be helpful to upload something to show weaving in the ends. For now, I would say that what you can do is use a yarn needle to sew it into the stitches of the face scrubbie to hide the yarn end. Make sure the end isn't too short hwen you fasten off so that it can be securely fasetned inside of the scrubbie. Hope this helps!

Perfect post, thank you! Just so you know, I tried to go to your website and it kept jumping around as I scrolled, I even reloaded it and it was doing the same thing, so just a heads up it might be a malfunctioning plugin. I think you had this video at the top of the page? Might be it, when I scrolled down it jumped past the video and if I scrolled down just a tiny bit more it would just jump to the bottom of the page. Anyway though - the video was enough! I love the puff scrubbies the best, and I haven't crocheted in ages, and your tutorial was easy to follow. Thank you!

Aww, thanks for the sweet words and for supporting my small business! :) That means a lot!! For the stitch count total, you'll find it in (parenthesis), so for example, after R1, the stitch count total is "(6 puffs, 6 chains)" and after R2, the stitch count total is "(12 puffs, 12 chains)". Hope this helps!

Well, we finally finished two of these and one thing I have to say is that I have a feeling this can't be a 6mm hook. Both of ours turned out much, much looser and not close together at all. We're going to try this with a 5mm and see if there's a difference. But again, I would not say this is very beginner-friendly. That pouf stitch isn't easy to master in terms of getting the hook through all those loops. Otherwise, the basic pattern is fairly easy.
@SweetSofties
@SweetSofties 2 жыл бұрын
Hi, sorry to hear about the hook size not working out! Yes, going down a hook size would definitely help with this issue. It sounds like this is a tension difference, so you may be crocheting on the loose side in general. Anyhow, the puff stitch takes a bit to get right; keep at it and you'll find it to be more natural and easier to make with each try! :)

Hi! Firstly, thank you for a great tutorial! Nice speed so was easy to follow. I was using much thinner yarn so I decided to make another round of puff stitch (after the 24) but it then curled and now looks like a jelly fish... I made 48 assuming I should just double each time. What did I do wrong? Is there a calculation I need to do to increase rounds? Thanks! Shaun
@SweetSofties
@SweetSofties 4 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the nice comment! If you are using much thinner yarn, I would recommend holding it doubled (double-stranded). Combining it will yield a thicker yarn that can more closely match the medium weight yarn that I'm using. Alternatively, if you don't wish to hold the yarn doubled, I recommend using a smaller crochet hook so that your work doesn't curl. Hope this helps!!

@SweetSofties 4 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much for the nice comment! If you use acrylic yarn, it won't be as effective as an absorbent face scrubby, but I think acrylic yarn can work well if you're using this pattern to make a decorative cup coaster!
@cheyennerossetti2345
@cheyennerossetti2345 3 жыл бұрын
When using yarn for face clothes dishclothes and towels you need to use 100% cotton for it to be antimicrobial. Acrylic will mold and will have a sponge like effect.

Thank you so much for this video! Your tutorial is so easy to follow. I've now subscribed to your channel. I do have a question though. My face scrubby doesn't sit flat and has a wave in it. I've done 2 with 2 different cottons and they both do. What am I doing wrong or how can I correct it to make them lay flat?
@SweetSofties
@SweetSofties 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the kind comment, I'm happy to have you here!! Regarding the issue with the scrubby not sitting flat, it sounds like it could be a tension issue (if tension is too tight, it will scrunch up). I would recommend using a larger hook to use with the yarn, that will it will loosen your tension and allow the stitches to be less tight. Hope this helps!
@laurao810
@laurao810 2 жыл бұрын
@@SweetSofties thank you so much for the reply, I did try that and still had a wave but as it sat it relaxed a bit. I think I just need to practice my tension. Thank you again for the easy to follow tutorial.

I really can't afford to go out and buy all new cotton yarn. Is the Caron Super Soft ok for making these face scrubbies along with the washcloth and bath poofy?
@SweetSofties
@SweetSofties 4 жыл бұрын
Hi, I would recommend cotton yarn for facial scrubbies and the other spa items, because it holds up a lot better than the 100% acrylic yarn that Caron Simply Soft is. The concern is that the acrylic yarn may wear out faster and stretch out of shape easier, whereas cotton won't really lose its shape or get stretched. Sorry about the inconvenience, but I hope you can get your hands on some cotton yarn! Sometimes I find good deals at my local thrift store!

@SweetSofties
@SweetSofties 4 жыл бұрын
Thank you! If you find that your stitches aren't as close, yes, I'd try going down a hook size or two. That can help you crochet more tightly, which can resolve the issue with not laying flat too. Hope this helps!!

Hi! The back puff stitches shouldn't look too loose. I'm wondering if it might be your tension when you're yarning over? Perhaps try a slightly smaller hook size? Hope this will help!

My puffs don’t look that puffy. Is there a flat and puffy side?
@SweetSofties

Hi! It ought to look somewhat puffy, but it might be because you're holdling the yarn too tightly? You can try using a larger hook to loosen the tension. Hope this helps!

What do you do with the two strings after you finished the puff? Just cut them
@SweetSofties
@SweetSofties 5 жыл бұрын
Hi! After finishing, you will weave in the ends. You can either do that by using a small crochet hook to pull the ends through the project (hiding it within stitches) or by using a yarn needle to do the same. Hope this helps! Let me know if you have any other questions! :)

Oh, I'm sorry to hear that! It might be your tension or how you're holding the yarn. If it's too tight, I recommend going with a larger hook size. Hope this helps!

hello is it okay to use milk cotton yarn?
@SweetSofties
@SweetSofties 3 жыл бұрын
That sounds really interesting! I haven't heard of milk cotton yarn before. If it is cotton and natural and doesn't stretch too much, I think they would be quite suitable as face scrubby's.

The yarn that you used recommended a 5 mm hook, but you used a 6 mm hook; how was that possible? Just curious !
@SweetSofties
@SweetSofties 5 жыл бұрын
Hi! You can use a different hook size from the "recommended" hook that is on the yarn labels. It will produce a different look. For example, with larger hooks, the stitches will be looser and not as densely put together. With smaller hooks, the stitches will be tight. So with projects such as amigurumi, where you wouldn't want stuffing to show, you will need smaller hooks than called for on the yarn label to crochet tight stitches. For this spa set, I recommend using a slightly larger hook so that these items aren't too tight/rigid and to keep them from curling up. I hope this makes sense, but please feel free to ask questions if you have any! P.S. I love your username! Are you a vegetarian/vegan?

So I had one of my more experienced crochet friends do this pattern and we both came to this conclusion: this is not a beginner-friendly pattern. Also, if you're a crocheter who holds their hook the other way, i.e. like a knife rather than like a pencil, THAT makes a big difference. We finally figured out how to do this, but while my friend's final result looks better than mine, neither of ours looked like this woman's. We attributed that to the way she holds her hook. Very pretty pattern but I don't think I'll be trying it again.

Sorry to hear that! I've had numerous crocheters share their finished face scrubbies with me on Instagram and enjoyed how easy it was to make, but it is possible that the hand grip comes into play too. My apologies it didn't work out for you! :(

I'm very sorry you feel upset about it. Please know that the pattern on Ravelry includes all four items from my Tea Rose Spa set, and it's meant to be helpful as a written pattern (not everyone likes following video tutorials) that has all the instructions laid out in an easy-to-read way. Your purchase also supports me greatly as a small-time designer who can offset some of the costs of my materials fees and allows me to create more free patterns and tutorials to share.
