After the ribbing , do I make the same amount of single crochets?

You don't have too. I just sc every sc row of the ribbing stitch. If you miss a st. At the end instead of slip stitching two just slip stitch one.❤

If I am making this for a man, will the ribbed band be longer and what multiple of 12 +7 should I use? Where did you get the number 7 from?

I don't think so. U keep your Multiple of 12. you have extra 7 sts. Cuz its for the 6 slip stitch on top of the hat and u start in the 2nd ch. From your hook.

What size yarn did u use? Worsted weight or DK

I use 4 med. Weight yarn, 5mm hook for the brim and 5.5mm for the body. :)
