I got a bit confused because at the end of a round, I'd have two "extra stitches" and I didn't know what to do. It took me a while to realize it was the previous' round slip stitch and the chain. And it's not very clear in the pattern. So a tip: at the end of the round, you have to slip stitch in the first stitch, to make a join, skipping both the previous slip stitch and the chain. In the pattern, it'd be like: Round 1: In a Magic Ring, ch 1, then sc 5. Join with slip stitch. [6 sts] Round 2: Ch 1, 2 sc in each st. *Sl st in the first stitch to join* [12 sts]. Round 3: Ch 1. (Sc, 2 sc) x6. *Sl st in the first stitch to join* [18 sts] Round 4: Ch 1. Sc in each st. *Sl st in the first stitch to join* [18 sts] and so on...

Pretty sure you don't have to slst and ch 1 at the start of every row, there really isn't any need in amigurumi and you end up with a ridge down one side

TheDucksGoMoo you don’t have to but I prefer to do that because then it joins the rounds better without a spiral pattern. Also then there is no need for a stitch marker

For one, I know I was using the wrong weight yarn, so next time I will use a much lighter weight yarn. All in all, my bear is pretty close to yours. And is it the cutest thing.

Debbie Johnson there is 24 stitches in rounds 5 and 6, on round 7 you put 1sc into each of first 2. Stitches, insert your hook into next stitch, draw up a loop, insert hook into next stitch, draw up a loop (3 loops on your hook) yo, and pull through all (3) loops...so on. Making a stitch count of 18.

Icecupcake playz you can embroider on the eyes, just use black or some other eye colors to make dots or something of the like. You can crochet it too (a few chains) and sew that on.

French knots are a really neat technique for making small eyes. For the larger eyes I just cut out circles out of felt.

I used a different shade of yarn and just made a knot and hid the tails in the head. It turned out cute and works well if anyone has worries about something or someone chewing the eyes out (i have dogs they LOVE when i make em new toys so i have to be careful not to have things they could choke on in my projects )
