This is beautiful! I love the look of the shell stitch compared to other mermaid tail projects I've seen. Would this still work without the second yarn in white or would it look too loose/holey? Or could I use a smaller gauge hook instead?

So I know toddler and child sizes aren't always the same ages but when making as a gift you can't always get the measurements which obviously will be more accurate but in general what ages are considered toddler size and what ages are considered child size ?

I have tried following this pattern twice and for some reason the my shells are just off balance so the one side looks like it grows. I can’t figure it out as watching the video and reading the pattern and number of shells are the same :(

Came out amazing but I can't read crochet, I allways use videos an when you said go back to row three it was very confusing. Would have been so much better if you made the whole blanket on video.

I noticed in the video at the beginning of row 3 and on the repeats you say to chain 4 but in the video you're clearly chaining 3. Will this make a difference in the pattern?

Row 3 you should ch 4 and Row 4 you should ch 3. But it will not make a huge difference.

I'm so confused... I chained 58, I had 7 shells in my first row, I used 4 weight yarn, and it was so small. Too small even for a baby. What the hell did I do wrong haha

im working on it right now... and im up til 4am bc i chain 58 but when it comes to single crocheting in each loop it comes out less or more.. but your probably doing your work to tight or need to use two strands if you only used one.
