In this video I share how to crochet the bell gauge.
After crocheting the bell gauge, I share how I found the pattern inside the Voynich manuscript.
This pattern is written in UK terms
Ch = chain
Sl st = slip stitch (this is also known as a single crochet)
Tr = treble
Crochet Bell Gauge
‘is a 9’
step 1.
Begin with a magic circle, 3 tr in the circle (chain 3 counts as a stitch)
Step 2.
Ch 3, 3 tr over the side of the last tr made
Step 3.
Ch 3, 3 tr over the side of the last tr made
Step 4.
Ch 3, 3 tr over the side of the last tr made
Step 5.
4 tr over the side of the next tr (this will join your work)
Step 6.
Ch 3, 3 tr over the side of the last tr made
Step 7.
Tr in the obvious gap, tr between the next 2 posts (twice)
Step 8.
4 tr over the side of the next tr
Step 9.
Ch 3, 3tr over the side of the next tr
Step 10.
Tr in the obvious space, tr between the next 2 posts (twice)
Step 11.
4 tr over the side of the next tr
Step 12.
Tr between the next 2 posts (twice)
Step 13.
Slip stitch over the side of the next tr.
Step 14.
Use the tail end and weave it back a few stitches, put the hook through the bell, make a chain of 5 and slip stitch to the next space.
The loop created is the same size as the circular section on the top of the bell gauge.
