I saw this advertised elsewhere and went to that person's KZbin site to see how this was done, but there was no pattern. I search this pattern and found several, but yours looks like the best. You give the best instructions and demonstrate slowly on each stitch. Thank you for sharing w

I'm so happy to have found you! I've been looking for a project for my velvet yarn that I can gift this year. Excellent instructions. Great idea to do instructions on a regular yarn, velvet so hard to see. I hope you do more tutorials...you're a great teacher!

I’m a bit confused. When you started row 2 you didn’t chain one, which was easy enough to follow; however, before you started row 3 you did a chain 1. What wasn’t clear in the video is this…are we turning and doing a chain 1 from row 3 on through the remaining rows?
@celticknotcrochet11 ай бұрын
Hi! So sorry about that confusion. It's best if you do a chain 1 at the beginning of every row for the entire scarf. Thank you for watching! Hope you like how the scarf turns out 🙂

I love these velvet scarves ..I hope I can make one successfully since the yarn is hard to see.

Hello! Thank you for watching - I hope you are successful, too. :) With this type of yarn I do a lot by feel to help with 'seeing' the stitches. Happy crocheting!

I am making this scarf. I am trying to keep the correct. Do this stitch have slant in the scarf.
@celticknotcrochet4 жыл бұрын
Yes, this stitch pattern has a slight slant but once you join the short ends you don't notice it at all. Crocheting loosely helps lessen the slant. :) Happy crocheting!
@mialexii1194 жыл бұрын
@@celticknotcrochet Hi so im new to crocheting, slant is meaning that the scarf as it builds up sort of goes diagonal to one side? I kept undoing it cause I thought I was messing up
@celticknotcrochet4 жыл бұрын
@@mialexii119 A slight slant is okay and it won't show when the ends are joined together - if you want to send me a photo of what you have done so far, I'd be happy to give you some feedback and let you know if you are on the right track. :) jennifer@celticknotcrochet.com

I'm glad I decided to check put the comments. I was ready to just throw this away...period. All I want now is to finish this scarf for my daughter. She liked the feel of the yarn and I naively thought,,,no problem. This is the second pattern I'm trying. The first looped so bad I was ready to burn it. I am not new to crocheting and have sold scarves and Afghans in a couple of local stores, etc. This is my first...and last...time using velvet yarn. Controlling the stitches was the first problem I had that I'd not had in years. The slanting is the final straw. I thought I'd done something wrong. So these comments about slanting are encouraging. I like the pattern...it is easy to follow and should have been a quickie. I may try this pattern with a different yarn but I just hope whenever I finish this scarf, my daughter still likes it

What needle size did you use?
@celticknotcrochet29 күн бұрын
For this project I used a size J or 6 mm crochet hook - it seems to work well with the velvet yarn. 🙂
@mariablanco84274 жыл бұрын
What brand crochet hooks do you recommend? I haven't crocheted in years and wanted to pick one that is comfortable and easy to work with. The one you are using looked like a good one to try.
@celticknotcrochet4 жыл бұрын
Hello! The first crochet hook I use in the video (blue with the flowers on it) is from Hobby Lobby and is size L - it works well with thick yarn. The second hook (silver hook with silicone blue handle) is also comfortable and I bought it at Walmart. Any hook with a silicone handle is good for your hands. Happy crocheting!

Sorry, can someone tell me how many rows is that
@celticknotcrochet9 ай бұрын
Hi - the stitch pattern is repeated until the scarf measures 60 inches which could be different rows for each person due to the thickness of the yarn and tension. Hope this helps! 🙂

How long did this take you
@celticknotcrochet4 жыл бұрын
It can easily be crocheted in a weekend or less depending on how fast you crochet. Once you get the hang of the stitch and use my tips on making it go quickly, it will be a quick make. The thicker yarn helps, too.. :)

I have problem with the ends.. It is not straight 😭
@celticknotcrochet Жыл бұрын
Hi - I am sorry you are having problems with the ends. The best thing to do is to count your stitches each row to make sure they stay even. You should have 18 stitches each row. But if you have completed several rows and they aren't even you can fix it by working a single crochet edging along the edges - with the velvet yarn you can easily hide a lot of mistakes. 🙂 Thanks for watching!
