How to culture bean beetles

Tfs this. I cannot believe I didn't know about these. Weirdly enough, I started culturing aphids for my tiny froglets and toadlets to eat, but would constantly need to go thru and pick out the mummified ones that had been parasitized by the little wasps as they would wipe out my entire colonies if I allowed em to hatch out. They're great at keeping my rose and fruit trees aphid populations under control, but I wish there was a way to get a culture going that is clean. I guess these would be my next, better option to try out, so thank you so very much.

Good video, well my colony has never grown or bred some were in a air vented fruit fly pot, and nothing has happened for weeks, all very little died. So i didn't find them easy to breed at all.

Sorry to hear that. My only problem with them is keeping the beans from molding. I wish crickets and other feeders were as easy to breed as fruit flies. I can’t breed Dubai roaches to safe my life.😂

Can they get infested with mites, like fruit flies do?

I haven’t had that problem, but I suppose it’s possible. My biggest problem with them has been that the beans will grow mold on them if there’s any humidity in the cup.

No, actually you don’t want any humidity. That will make the beans mold.

can they climb glass? will they escape if theyre not eaten right away?

They can climb the glass but slower and more clumsy than a fruit fly. I’ve not noticed them escaping, but I suppose they could escape, just like the occasional fruit fly, depending on the enclosure.
