I have a big swimming pool with daphnia mix breed ,the leaves of our tree and rain water makes an awesome ecosystem...it's seasonal but when I discovered it it was like finding gold only for fish😅but the amounts is a miracle I think I could start a channel just on daphnia here

I’m in the uk and have a culture outside. All I do to feed is sunlight and algae. Amazingly they come back year after year too. They must hibernate during winter
@ArnoBotes3 ай бұрын
They lay hard shelled eggs that hatch the next year so even soil with eggs in it is like having a culture at all times

Hi Sir, Great advice 👍 Thank you for sharing. I've a few questions 1.Can you explain how much water volume you use in the tank? 2.Also do you do water changes in culture or keep restarting every 3 to 4 days? 3.Do you think aeration will help culture? 4. When you setup a culture when can you harvest to feed fishes?
@petfishchannel3 жыл бұрын
1. I think is around 35 liters 2. I did not water change since I started a year ago and they still thrive until now 3. If they get too crowded then you need aeration. On my part when they get too crowded I harvest so I don't need aeration anymore 4. You can harvest anytime as long as you leave some adult daphnia to breed again and multiple Thank you for the visit!

We have had a lot of success feeding Daphnia Magna live Raphidocelis Subcapitata algae. We have noticed cultures crash very quickly after food runs out.

Is nature spring 10L container ok for culturing daphnia?? Kailangan po ba nang sunlight? How can you say crowded na yung container?
@petfishchannel3 жыл бұрын

Hi Daphnie Magna, what is the minimum and maximum temperature it can withstand, how much is the best temperature for propagation, and does it need oxygen, and how much yeast should be given daily for a ten-liter container?
@petfishchannel3 жыл бұрын
Room temperature is best. When it becomes too hot, the daphnia will get cooked. If they are too many in one container you might need aeration. Yeast just about a pinch or depending how many daphnias you have. Just estimate that they can finish the food you give. You can start small and adjust accordingly
