In this video, I'll show you how to cure your cinchy horse.
A lot of people ask me why my horses are always quiet in my videos. Some people even think I'm working with already trained horses!
Watch this video to find out the truth behind my "quiet horses" and how most trainers get it wrong.

I have had this 16 hand Arabian for many years - cinching is always horrible. He dances, threathenes to kick/bite me. He tries to turn his butt towards me. I has gotten to the point where I will come thru a pipe corral from the side to cinch so he cannot kick me. Once I am on him, he is pretty great. I believe he is a fear based horse. Even though I am super gentle to him, he is always trying to bully me. I believe the saddle fits well, no signs it does not. I clean the pads and cinches for any debris. He acts as if he is fearful of being touched, although he will let me gently rub him down with natrual fly repellant every morning. I will try this... fingers crossed.

Thank you Noah. This is very useful information. I purchased an amish horse who has only been ridden bareback. He is very cinchy and bucked me off as soon as I put my behind in the saddle. I hope your method works on him!

Thank you for giving more than just philosophy, I appreciate it. But I wish someone would show a horse that is actually being cinchy while being saddled and go from there. What do I do right then? Like when I put the latigo through the cinch ring he sidesteps towards me. When I do have him cinched up (all done slowly and gently) to where the saddle won't fall off. He stands all braced and ready to explode and run off, which he does, buckng away. I guess I need to start with this rope but If I'm going to ride I need to get him actually saddled. Please know I'm not complaining about the video; I like how you are with horses and your ideas. I'm just feeling stuck. kind of like my horse when he's being saddled haha

Bro, in my opinion, you should put a 2" metal ring on that rope so it can slip easier.. I'd also be reluctant to do that to a horse, especially a known cinch horse while he is tied. Sure not saying it is wrong.... Personally I let them move off with the cinch/flank rope and let it tickle them until they come to a quiet walk.. Then release it... I've seen some of your work, you're a god hand...

I've done this excersise with the rope but EVERY time I barely touch him with my cinch he swishes and picks his hind foot up like hes kicking flies.

The horse I ride named chief, when ever I bring out the saddle he starts to paw and when I do the cinch up he starts to pull and rear.

I'm a little confused when you said the horse may have sores and is trying to get away from the pain. Why would you continue if a horse is in pain? My opinion on that is you do not ride a horse who is in pain; it's flat our wrong. I would find out if the horse has sores or a spinal injury first and have that addressed. You can cup your thumb on one side of the horses spine and four fingers on the other side and start at the top of the neck and run all the way down the spine. If the horses head comes up there is a problem and you should have a chiro look at it. Not right to put a saddle and a body on a horses' back when they are in pain and we should always look at that each time before we ride as they cannot tell us.

Haha you are obviously not working with you're horse.. sometimes we all have to go to work sore and get the job done. why should a horse get a hall pass because it's a little sore and the cowboy with a broken back still has to show up to work ready for the day?

Why would you do that if the horse has pain? What you are saying is you are teaching the horse to take the pain and not act out. If it is for other reasons than pain, ok but typically a horse acts out only out of pain or fear. Fix the sores and discomfort and don't put a saddle on until that is corrected. I typically really like your videos but this one I highly disagree.
