Just signed up for fresh start! Been in default since 2018 and I want to go back to school to finish my degree.

Excellent!! Please take one more step and make sure you have all Direct or DL loans. You may have the older FFEL or even a Perkins loans, and the IDR audit can give you back credit if you consolidate - or forgive if you didn't borrow more than I think it's $12,000. You can find out on studentaid.gov. The time you were in default won't count in the IDR audit, but forbearance probably will.

I signed up for fresh start 45-ish days ago. Loans are transferred to Nelnet but how long does it take to show up on my credit score?

I have some student loans that went into default back in 2019. My account is currently up to date, but the defaults (120 days late payments) are still showing up on my credit report. When I called about Fresh Start, I was told that I was not eligible because no defaults are showing up on my account. So I'm basically stuck.
