Thanks for this your video help me with explaining to my local council in Greenwich with the property that I moved into where I had mould and condensation issues I had a damp survey done pacifier air vents installed and I have no more problems !! Thank you 😃👍

I did what the plumber chap did and it stopped the damp problems in my bedroom, I open it during the day and close it at night , I think Sam over analysed this problem and has dug himself into a hole 👍

I'd say it could work however the cold will also go into the cavity and chill the outside wall further, potentially causing more condensation.

I’ve had some damp issues upstairs which we’ve put down to old roof was leaking bad and really soaked the house , they stuck a new roof on which seems great but didn’t give the walls any time to dry out prior to reskimming poorly over all the old walls they didn’t even remove the old soaked hard wall or plaster , on inspection the house seemed fine and had been sat empty for 18 months and had no issues , we come along whacked a whole new heating system in new rads etc and with in a few weeks the damp started showing , it never got worse , at the minute we’ve stripped back to brick work in the effected places and allowed to dry out which it seems to do be doing , the bottom floor and second floor has vents on the chimney stacks the 3rd floor doesn’t and seems to be in the places it’s effected , for now am just going to leave it to see if it dries out better and keep monitoring with a damp meter but we’ve been told to vent it , watched all your videos great content great that experts like yourself share your valuable experience with the world 👍

I feel your pain Andrew, I had this with a property I own and the lying loss adjusters. Make sure you heat then vent , get an air blowing fan

I think it’s just a cold spot and needs treating with antifungal paintAnd it also looks like the window is misted up on the outside not the inside so hard to tell

good video again sam ! could you stick thermal boards with acrylic ? or do you need instastik with it ?

We use Drygrip to fix the boards but it does depend on the back it’s being fixed to

Don’t block airflow vents you’re just trapping in moisture.

They can be changed to passyfier vents

@@dampsam I advise these in my damp reports. As you say why do you want 4" dia holes in the walls or keeping windows open in Winter as social housing repair lines often advise. The house and wall fabric will get cold

Easier to retrofit a trickle vent on the window and a neater job.

Is that passive vent you mentioned ok to fit to help condensation

Also get in the loft and check the insulation I bet it’s missing on that point of the ceiling

They are fantastic but only if the adequate ventilation is in place and there are still issues

much rather have simple cost effective solution than overhyped and over-priced 'damp' products. thermal paint on old cold walls. never dry clothes indoors. warm wet rooms before showers n baths . keep all doors closed near showers n baths. open a window once a day unless obv -10. 99% of 'damp' probs are wet ingress probs - drains splashing down against outside walls, faulty gutters etc. stop the water / condensation and voila! damp solved

A bit cheap copy someone else’s video and trashing it. I think you’re probably right but make your own video on how to fix the problem, from scratch. Northern plain speaking != rude. Plus plenty of your videos have you bunging in a solution and you don’t show if it’s worked in a year’s time.
