Always called it a hawk in Manchester area, also always used a 6" paste brush. Looks like he used his broken in trowel then just used the new one in the shots!

@@dampsam Retired in Spain but one of the other guys here from Brighton also calls it a hawk. Just depends on how you were taught I suppose. I learnt on the job with a guy who was in his 60's and was part of the team that redid hampton court.

never done a stick of diy, i plastered a whole room (slowly) and its in better nick that some of the cowboys, sorry, professionals i paid to do plastering over the years. plastering isn't rocket science, and anybody who says it is lying, ignore this bloke, he just wants you to pay him 4-500 quid a day to keep him in the lifestyle he's accustomed to. watch a few vid's, get a plan, give it a try and you will see that he's full of it.

@@dampsam good for you, but it doesn't negate the fact that it isn't as hard as you make out. It's just coming across as...."Waaaahhhh.... give me your money, mugs... Waaaahhhh". if you want to try and convince people to employ you, you should tell them, yes, you could do it. but it will be messy, physically hard and take you longer than me. mate, you're not doing brain surgery. you're just plastering.

You should always use a brush, you might as-well ask for the garden hose. In 16 years in the trade I’ve never understood why people use these it’s messy and really doesn’t need that much water a brush is so much more controlled.
