Drink lots of water. Hydrate as soon as you wake up and before you go to bed. Hydration cures so many ailments that people think they need a doctor or medication for.

Great video Dr. Veer. Many people have never heard of tonsil stones. I’ve had a few patients with them over the years and have found eliminating processed sugar from the diet significantly reduces the symptoms of bad breath… which returns as their sugar intake increases. Next time I might suggest they consult an ENT surgeon for assessment. Thanks again for such great information.

1 - I have noticed a moderate increase in tonsil stone production when I have foods/drinks with active yeast i.e. Beer and leavened breads (also rice/pasta/nuts which can become lodged) 2 - "Smart Mouth" mouthwash seems to help dislodge some on the debris and improve overall oral cleanliness and improve breath (although my stones tend to be small and not cause particularly bad breath but rather a foul taste). 3 - Some antibiotics (taken for other reasons) seem to have reduced tonsil inflammation as well as reduced the size and frequency of the stones. 4 - Spraying the tonsils with a waterpik can help dislodge them... and a waterpik is just a good oral care tool to have. You can also use the shower head to help apply a bit of slightly pressurized warm water to the affect area. 5 - Brush your tongue and get as far back as you can. 6 - Gargle. 7 - Cough as if you had a hair stuck in the back of your throat 8 - Generally, understand that you have areas in your throat in which debris, pus, bacteria et cetera can accumulate and try to keep the fissures in the tonsils clear of debris. They should reduce in size over time thus reducing the frequency and severity of tonsil stones as well. 9 - Stop going mouth to south! :-p :-(

I know you said: “If you don’t have tonsils you can’t have tonsil stones”, but I had my tonsils removed when I was a child, and a few years ago I started getting what appear to be tonsil stones. I can sometimes remove them with cotton earbuds, and they stink! I find drinking plenty of water helps, but as yet I haven’t found a way of curing the problem.

I also heard even though you get your tonsils removed they come back again. During a tonsillectomy, most of the tonsils are removed. However, some tissue often remains, so tonsils occasionally can regenerate (regrow) - although they probably won't grow back completely or to their original size.

I get tonsil stones in waves, with maybe 3-4 coming out every few days for a week or so, and then nothing for months. I've never been able to see them in my throat at all, but I can tell they are there because I can taste them (gross). It seems like most people can plainly see their stones and remove them, but I have to rely on a more blind toothbrush jabbing approach, which generally works. It's curious to me that my dentist has never mentioned the tonsil stones, I wonder if they also can't see them? All in all pretty frustrating, but I do appreciate reading other comments here - makes me feel less embarrassed about the whole thing. I am getting to be in my later 30s now, and others have said that this will just go away with time.... we'll see.

U would think a dentist could help but they will never mention it , if you hadn't had ur tonsils removed as a child chances are you will get them because, the tonsils are a protective barrier that collect toxins from environment. Must be very careful of foods you eat, no sugery cookies, cakes ,donuts, no soda or surgery drinks. Gotta eat lots of raw fresh foods, drink water with fresh lemon, lime cucumber, echinacea throat spray, or can make ur own neem oil spray with clove oil ( beware neem smells like sulfur) but it is great for so many uses. Get a round tip syringe and use mixture with some hydrogen peroxide and get back in there to flush.

Make sure you use the nozzle of the water flosser to lift up folds in the tonsils. Try as much as possible to get under folds and go around it. Keep maneuvering. You’ll get some out. Hope this helps ❤

I have to push them out with my index finger. My sister, and I have both gotten them all of our lives. Things that I have found to cause my tonsil stones: Smoking Drinking alcohol High sugar, highly processed diet When I'm ill When I am engaged in these activities for prolonged periods. The stones will always appear within a few weeks. When I'm not engaged with these activities I could go many months without having any. I'll routinely check my tonsils every few weeks (mirror, torch and a wooden q tip - the plastic ones tend to bend too much to be effective) just to make sure there's none there. I used to get them bad as a child/young teenager and at that time I didn't smoke or drink so the sugary diet and tonsil related illness can be leading factors. Also tongue brushing is essential as bacteria grows on the tongue, particularly at the back and this can provide a near unlimited supply of bacteria if left un-cleaned

Hi Dr. I came to your video because I recently just upchucked a relatively large tonsilith, one of the larger ones i've seen in my life. Diameter was probably nearly 2mm and had several tonsiliths attached to it as one big clump. I have had tonsilectomy and adenoidectimy, as well as having my uvula removed. This was roughly 3/4 years ago after a bout with strep that just wouldn't go away. The doctor used a new technique, where he left 10% of the tissue. I'm relatively concerned now because of this recent upchuck, and the fact that my breath just smells like halitosis despite me flossing diligently (sometimes twice a day), using mouth wash and of course, brushing my teeth and tongue twice a day. I guess i'm kind of stuck between a rock and a hard place on this one, and your video didn't fully answer my question of how to eliminate halitosis/get rid of tonsilstones.

I got a tonsil stone that is showing when I swallow but I can't get it out I just realized it yesterday. It is behind my tonsil and the upper part of it. When I swallow it shows. I tried digging it with my finger but it won't come out. I don't feel pain or anything but after digging it seems like it's stuck or just forming. I did gargle it's annoying. Should I wait and let it fall out by itself? How would I know if it would fall out by itself or won't. Usually my other tonsil stones fall out by itself if not it's just very small stones or one medium one. It's been months since I don't have tonsil stone . This tonsil stone is annoying because it's stuck up near the uvula and behind the flap on the tonsil only when I use my throat muscles to swallow it shows . Do find it annoying but no pain I do kind of feel it.

@theredfaceofficial
@theredfaceofficial 2 жыл бұрын
Try gargling with warm (just slightly hotter than luke warm water) Salt water, gargle up to 6 or more times a day for 1-2 weeks whilst keeping you’re head tilted upright and let the warm gargle do it’s work into the back of of your throat as well as the tonsils. Also try some light coughing a few times a day to help dislodge them! Another thing you could try additionally, is to get a Waterpik or a Water Flosser and try to squirt with warm water into the tonsils area in your throat, use a phone torch to guide you. Also use a lower setting if you use a Water Flosser. The manual piks are good too and you are in control of the pressure when you trigger the water to squirt. Be patient and don’t stress over it too much, and please don’t fiddle too much with cotton swabs / sticks or any thing that can irritate the tonsils. Also make sure you use a tongue scraper each day when you brush your teeth, to help reduce further bacteria in the mouth! And avoid certain breads, as many wheat products tend to lodge into the little crevices / pits. I’m sure you can resolve this and keep up this routine from time to time. All the best!

Came to your channel because of possible sleep apnea, but I also had tonsil stones earlier this year. Now I'm wondering, is there any correlation between OSA and tonsil stones/unusual tonsil folds? Hmmmm
@user-vr5zk9ox8d
@user-vr5zk9ox8d 2 жыл бұрын
The correlation does not not prove causation. While I’m not saying if there is or is not correlation between OSA, for there to be causation the tonsil stones would have to be quite severe and persistent… In which case does not seem to be the issue since you said you had them earlier in the year. However, again if the tonsil stones are creating a larger issue like tonsillitis, it could be the culprit… Or it could be just another piece to the puzzle, like toxic lymph for one… Which could be entirely plausible, and I would be open to elaborating if you wish, but it again depends on the previous questions of how persistent the tonsil stones are, or other symptoms. Answering those would help establish more of a background. Slight disclaimer though: I am in no way offering a medical advice or diagnosis online, it would be unethical without a proper examination and such. I’m only entertaining a question you proposed, but take what I say with a grain of salt as this would classify as “barstool medicine;” there’s no access to medical records, labs, imaging, specialists or even basic things like vital signs, etc.

I don't know how you can deal with it every few months. I'd go insane. Apple cider vinegar rinses help but can upset the stomach and accelerate tooth decay. Salt water rinse helps reduce inflammation, but I'm finding it only helps for a few minutes. Tea and honey works but again only last for as long as you're drinking it. Chew your food thoroughly so that it is almost liquid before swallowing. Before you eat try to put yourself in a good mood, so as to reduce cortisol. Make sure that your last meal is about 4 hours before you go to sleep, so that your stomach will be empty. Look up intermittent fasting try and follow it. Put a 2 by 4 piece of wood under your Bed Head. Do not drink cold liquids with your meals. However the last bit of advice he told me was quite interesting. He said to seek the advice of the Raj yoga people. He said acid reflux is often a result of stress, and these people would teach me to meditate and the Art of detachment. He was right

Hello. Not a doctor, but my mother is a nurse. You should get a blood test. Hair loss can be caused by deficiency in Vitamin D, etc.

Shave your head. Best shit I ever did. Women love it despite what hollywood tries to tell us. Ever wonder why the hottest chicks are with dudes with a shaved head, muscles and a beard? Because we are still cave people.

I have huge holes in my tonsils and a lot of small stones are gathering there, when I swallow my saliva some of them get out and lay on the end of my tongue what makes me vomit ( cause of smell and taste of them). I vomit at least once a week cause of this. So tired of it, do you think that's a good reason to remove my tonsils?

Nah, just start brushing your teeth and using mouthwash.

that definitely sounds like a good reason to remove them in my opinion.

If they are causing that much distress, then my personal opinion would be have them removed. I can't promise that you'll get better though. vomiting can be for lots of different reasons. see someone and get checked out.

Hello doctor. I suffer from tonsil stones occasionally. And I normally know cause I feel throat discomfort so I remove them carefully with a qtip. Then it feels fine. Tonight I felt the same discomfort and I can see a tonsil stone. But it a little too far down for me to reach Bothers to swallow. But too far down to try to remove. Should I wait to see if it dislodges on its own. Or if I go to a ent they could remove it? Thanks so much! Joe

Doctor, tonsil stones are linked to “white tongue”? I wonder what is the cause and what is the consequence. Sometimes I think my stones cause me to have white tongue, and sometimes the other way around. What problem should I treat first? It feels like and no ending circle. Thanks for your video.

Im suffereing terribly from tonsil stones. Started late 30s. My tonsils are very open and both of them get almost blocked with these white pus like substance. Just this morning i removed about 20 from just one of my tonsils. My diet isnt great so ive now started a diet and review my food intake. I normally use a cotton wool bud and finger to remove them. Not great as terrible gag reflex. Very smelly.
