Thanks for this tutorial. We have sanctuary lights out right now and getting 2 cameras to color match is a problem. I’m gonna try this awb first and then adjust in encoder settings to fine tune. 👍🏻 new subscriber

I know, right?! Its as if it was shot with a completely different camera. I learned this the hard way. After I got my on camera light, I shot a video with it and everything looked fine on the display screen of the camera. After viewing on my phone I said, what the heck, my face is red.. I just blamed it on the camera and went back into the editor and tweaked the colors to make it look more "natural". It still didn't look right but it was a little better. That's when i started tinkering around with custom white balance. One thing I'll say about this camera is you can't trust its auto white balance..but if you custom white balance, this camera is awesome.

The difference is staggering with the non set shot it is as if your face is oozing with oil or better yet it looked too bright for me. With the option set however, all of those are now gone and I can see you clearly. Thanks for the tutorial. I will keep it in mind.

I just changed the setting on the A6100, very similar to how you did it, just used a white notebook paper and locked it in. No more orange skin, much more natural looking now. Question #1, since I'm also getting into taking the camera outside for pics and vlogging.. Should I use AWB outdoors? or keep it locked in? my 2nd question in regards to taking the a6100 off the tripod (handheld broll product videos, cinematic footage, etc), should I invest in one of those $400 compact gimbals? or save up for a diff camera that has IBIS? $400 still cheaper than an A6600 or A7iii, etc.

Often times I use AWB when outdoors in natural sunlight without any problems. I only custom white balance when using artificial lighting. As far as stabilization goes, you could always get one of the manfroto mini table top tripods (the legs fold in and you can use it as a vlogging stick) and just practice taking steady shots. Hold the camera close to your body, keeping your hands and arms still.

Keep in mind with custom white balance, it needs to be reset everytime you change rooms or places. Pros would probably recommend always using custom white balance for best accuracy, however when it comes to youtube and vlogging, "close" is good enough. The only time I worry about it is with studio lighting where I know my skin tones are going to look weird.
