Don’t apply too much paint on the buttons, they won’t fit in properly

How much grit do you use to sand it down

to be honest I just use a rough dish pad to sand it down. You just need to get the thin layer of clear coat off of it. hope that helps

330 is fine. It's plastic it doesn't take much. Sand very lightly. You just want to remove the OEM protective layer and scuff the plastic. I spray an adhesive first and it really helps the paint not flake. Currently researching protective top coats.

If you wanna repaint it. You should sand it down. If not it's fine. Sanding it down get help paint stick on better. Hope that helps
