The core is the most important part. It's full of bromelain. An enzyme that provides lots of health benefits. Save it and use it in smoothies. Those brown spots are eyes and they're used to pollinate the pineapple. Just some thoughts....

I tried this method today and it worked fairly well. Probably the best compared to all the videos about this topic. It is straightforward, logical, and easy to remember. Personally, I get kind of scared when keeping my hand flat across the pineapple and slicing horizontally as I fear my knife being angled funny and going into my palm. Do you have any tips for that?

Go slow and make sure to have a sharp knife! cutting is actually much safer in general with a sharp knife, much easier to control.

​@@PapaPineapplesDude. You cut them horizontally 3 times in the video. Palm/hand on top, knife parallel to the top of the work surface. You are also chopping and not dicing. Dicing will yield 1/4 x 1/4 inch, uniform cubes. Learn your words/terms before educating people.

This is great. Now I’m wondering when I should cut the pineapple up. The top half is green and it’s starting to turn that right color near the bottom but there are brown hard spots on the bottom and I’m not sure if that’s OK?

Good technique, for the most part. Like how you removed the core! No mention of washing the pineapple, you should have referred to that in your first sentence. Also, should state that sharp knife is needed. Finally, how can someone who seems to consider himself to be expert on cutting pineapples not have heard of the term "eyes" !!!

About the ONLY thing you got right was to take off the top and bottom. Otherwise, You did it wrong., or I should say.. Not my way. Cut from one 'eye' to the other, from top to bottom. Boom, boom, boom, boom. It should look square. Then, use the slanted technique (you showed) to take the four corners out. This makes the pineapple round,THEN you cut like you showed. But I don't slice it in half( lengthwise), That takes too long. And, in my opinion, makes too much juice and wet messiness. Boom, boom, boom, boom. Slice, slice, slice, slice. Chop, chop, chop. Save core (and outside peel, too, if you want) boil in water... Drink the 🍍 juice for healthy vitamin/mineral rich drink.
