You are the first KZbinr that mention to add an additional inch on the both ends of the cuts! I really appreciate the insight. Great video man!

I was going to hire out my countertop to a pro, but with your video as a reference I did it myself. It was not easy but it was also not as difficult as I thought it would be. Thanks.

I would do everything you did except I would have the guide on the other side (on the side of what you will keep) and go up the vertical end first, then across toward the easy end. The mistakes will occur on the side without the guide so if a mistake occurs, it will be on the discard side, not the keep side. Great video!

How odd is it that I am looking for youtube vids for cutting laminate countertop and you have the exact menards cheapo countertop size and color pattern? THANK YOU for this video.

I usually rip up on the backsplash first then do the cross cut .
@HANDYMANHEADQUARTERS2 жыл бұрын
Interesting, I figured I would have better control on the downstroke with the weight of the tool vs. cutting up. But hey if your comfortable with good results the way you do it rock on!

@@HANDYMANHEADQUARTERS I’ve had laminate chip out a few time going down . So I started cutting up and usually stop at the corner seam . Honestly I wish they made it in two pieces backsplash and top . It’s better for scribing walls and better fit .

I'm wondering if the backsplash on these counters is structural? If I cut it off what's needed to keep it straight, not warping? Thanks
@HANDYMANHEADQUARTERS Жыл бұрын
I'd recommend just ordering one, im that case. There is too much work to set up and how this curves up with the melamine. I don't think you would get a good end result.

@@HANDYMANHEADQUARTERS I was thinking about doing a different backsplash in a small kitchen. I managed to cut pieces into a corner. Looks like my cuts are more square than the kitchen. Trying to figure out how to make it work. It's tight right there. Thanks.

Does the Dewalt Flexvolt 60v Circular saw cuts better than the Flex 24v?
@HANDYMANHEADQUARTERS2 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't say cuts better the cutting power is the same but the flex seems a little smoother but slighty heavier.

Any idea how to cut the front edge of a countertop to match a profile of a buffet?? Is it even possible?
@HANDYMANHEADQUARTERS Жыл бұрын
I would say no if the front has a finished edge.
@donrad Жыл бұрын
You can do it with a jigsaw. Use a carbide blade designed for cutting laminate - bi-directional tooth design. (Diablo Item # DJT128BHM)

How does that work with a stove
@HANDYMANHEADQUARTERS Жыл бұрын
You have to finish the ends off with a precut piece they should sell in the store to match the countertop

@@HANDYMANHEADQUARTERS I’m talking about the inch overhang I’m doing mine almost flush
@HANDYMANHEADQUARTERS Жыл бұрын
@shawnknoblauch5114 ypu should of left just a slight overhang to account for that trim piece on the end. It may still work.

Raise up countertop so it does not "fit" down over the cabinet. Most countertop supply stores also sell spacers and attachment pieces to screw into under the countertop to help it get raised up that 1/2"-3/4" to get the underside of the end of the countertop edge strip just flush with the top of the base cabinet. That way, the left edge of the countertop (for example) is flush with the left edge of the base cabinet so the stove can slide right in with no gap.
