This video is about how to cut a perfect 4 and1/4 inch hole, for a drain, in a ceramic tile, without a drill, just with an angle grinder.

Nice precise work. Also, nice to see someone who actually uses their grinder with the safety guard in place.

I had to do this, I was stumped because I had a 4.25 inch diamond bit and I could not keep it in one place when I started to use it, so I started the hole with this method and the bit stayed in one place. perfectly. Great video

4" or larger holes seems possible with this technique for ceramic tile. What is your recommendations for smaller holes and natural stones?
@diyday215 жыл бұрын
Zap Shocking thanks for watching! For small holes ( e.g. for shower pipes) I used to cut a square hole ( less than 2” ). The metal plate will cover the square hole. Soon, I will upload a video “How to cut a square hole for shower pipes”. If you want to Subscribe and tap the notification bell you will be notified to see how I used to cut a small hole. Thanks again! For natural stones should be the same procedure, depend on the thickness of the stone.

I take it that this was a demonstration of how to cut a circular hole in a tile. It seems to me that the hole was too big for the drain he was intending to fit. This is evidenced by the back nut on the underside!

I use a diamond tipped hole saw on a drillpress...30 seconds.
@diyday214 жыл бұрын
Brian Reinhardt thanks for watching my video. Yes, with a drillpress is better and faster, but this video intend to help regular people to install a floor and they are on a budget, not for proffesional tile setters. Thanks again!
@brianreinhardt40504 жыл бұрын
Uh...not a pro. What you showed people to do is more of a "pro" move than my idea. Anyone can pop a holesaw into a drill press and push a button. What you did takes skill and years of use on a grinder. So maybe the "professional" is you...
@jahnkaplank86264 жыл бұрын
just tried this. FOUR TIMES, every time the damn tile cracked. Feeling a little pee'd off right about now.
@rickroll90864 жыл бұрын
Jahn Kaplank How do you crack a tile using this technique ? There are diamond drum grinding bits for a drill if you can’t figure this way out.
@rickroll90864 жыл бұрын
BTW, to reduce cracking, put the tile in a piece of foam insulation, kerdi board or even wood ; cut circle out while on a solid backer board. You only need to put on the bucket for the final grinding of the inside circle.
@diyday214 жыл бұрын
Jahn Kaplank thanks for watching my video! If your tile cracked try once again but wet that tile first. Sometimes works better.
@ilayalifajardo29955 жыл бұрын
