Great tips! Knowing how to measure the location of the pipe onto the tile, and how to stop the drill bit from sliding across the face of the tile, are transferable skills to other areas. Many thanks.

Good video. To stop tile cracking when inserting screw, you can make hole slightly bigger in tile than rawlplug requires. Then when the screw is inserted, it does not apply pressure to the sides of the tile.

Is the hole cutter specific to masonry as well?
@TileMountain15 жыл бұрын
Hi Beech1900pilot - thanks for your comment. The hole cutter that Craig uses is a dimond-tipped drill bit. These can be used on masonry but we advise you to always check the manufacturer's instructions before using. You can check out our range of drill bits here: www.tilemountain.co.uk/catalogsearch/result/?q=drill%20bit Hope this helps! Tile Mountain

I have 2 - 15mm mixer shower pipes . What size holesaw would you use (18mm)
@TileMountain16 жыл бұрын
Hi Paul - thanks for your comment. We would advise using a 18mm drill bit as this will be a bit more accurate and leave a tidier hole in which to insert your pipe. www.tilemountain.co.uk/p/18mm-porcelain-drill-bit.html Hope this helps. Tile Mountain

What tile hole cutter do you have... with a pilot drill bit, where do I get one?
@TileMountain16 жыл бұрын
Hi Craig - thanks for your comment. Cutting holes in porcelain tiles should be done with a diamond-tipped drill bit. Different sizes are available depending on the diameter of the hole you need to cut. You can check out our range here: www.tilemountain.co.uk/catalogsearch/result/?q=porcelain%20drill%20bit Hope this helps. Tile Mountain

It occurs to me that you could place the tape by eye, then draw the X where the 2 ends of the lines meet only on the tape. Then clean up is as simple as pulling the tape off.

What do you fill the empty space behind the big shower valves with? Mortar? Silicon? Grout? Tile adhesive?
@TileMountain15 жыл бұрын
Hi AJ MM - thanks for your comment. We're not sure exactly what you're referring to - can you be more specific? If you mean the faucets that are common with showers that operate from the mains then we'd advise cutting the holes in the tiles that will house them as closely and as accurately as possible, leaving a minimal gap, and then filling with silicon. Hope this helps! Tile Mountain
@MrandMrsDIY5 жыл бұрын
I've filled it with mortar, 4x1 sand and cement, then tiled over.

How do you do it if you dont have a hole cutter?
@MrDIYCraigPhillips4 жыл бұрын
You can get very wide drill bits but its harder and there a risk you could break the tile with lager drill bits
@TileMountain1Ай бұрын
Cutting tiles around pipes and drilling holes without a hole cutter can be tricky, but there are a few methods you can use to make precise cuts without needing a specialised hole saw, such as a rotary tool or tile nippers.
