How to cut a stencil (simple two layer stencil)

This video is about how to cut a two layer stencil. In my opinion a two layer stencil is easier to create than a single layer because of the use of line and form instead of just line. I hope you find this video helpful.

Yeah its a great way to add dimension. Especially if you think of the line detail as the shadow. If you want to even push the 3D effect farther you could add a high light layer.

The best material to make a stencil out of is Bristol paper or watercolor paper. Smooth/ hot press. Also a great starter material for smaller stencils is paper plates.

@@shirleya4510 yes. They are called stencil acetate sheets. But you need to use a hot knife to cut them. Bristol board and 140lb water color paper are thick enough to use multiple times depending how flooded the stencil gets from how long you spray with the paint.

effsixteenblock50 yes some people love the swivel tip. It’s great for curves and shapes but not straight lines. I stick with the #11 xacto because I can cut any way I like with it. Plus the swivel tip is much more expensive than your basic #11.

the best way to use bridges is to let them naturally be a part of the design. That way you don't have to paint the stencil twice.
