This was really educational! I'm a digital artist with over 20 years experience and a bachelor's degree in animation but I'm new to vTubing. This was inspirational and you included a lot of really great tips for breaking apart my drawings. Everyone makes this mistake: DPI stands for Pixels Per inch. It's completely irrelevant to digital format art. For digital art, the only measurements that matter are hight and width. DPI only matters if you are producing art specifically for print, like arranging a magazine or newspaper. Your digital art can be produced 75 DPI and if you make the canvas 5kx7k, you still have the same number of pixels. Again, it won't affect your file size, or how the art program uses any tools, but it's a metric It's just an irrelevant metric that every digital artist I've watched for the last 3 years quotes but won't affect your final art. The canvas size absolutely will affect how much resolution you can get out of the final product, but not the DPI. I just completed my first vtube 2D model, and after watching your vid I think I have to go back and change some things. I got a lot of really great ideas for animating my models and I;l need to go back and remake some parts. I think I'll have to rework my eyes entirely. Thank you for this really great breakdown of your model!

it's "dots per inch"

If you consider that vtubers could potentially sell merch with their model on it in the future, wouldn't it still be relevant to have rather high DPI?
@RamDragon32
@RamDragon32 7 ай бұрын
@@Goldy01 No. You set up for print differently. Again, if you set up your file to be 3000 pixels wide at 72 dpi, then it will still be the exact same pixel depth as 3000 pixels wide at 300 dpi. Turn on your ruler in your digital art program to see, the 72 DPI version will be larger across than the 300 dpi version but the file itself still has the exact same number of pixels across. That's what I mean that the the DPI is totally irrelevant to the process. Now, if you are going to print, you want to set up your canvas differently. Start by setting your inches across instead of pixels, then set your DPI to 150 for most uses (textiles won't show super sharp images) or 300 for glossy prints. (work with your printer to find out what their print dpi is) With your 3000 pixel wide file, you can still change canvas size to 300 but you will only have a 10 in wide image. Either way, you still only have those 3000 pixels to work with. Sorry for the info dump. I'm a bit of a nerd on the subject.

14:53 I'm sorry if you wanted to keep it in secret but I can hear a little pffft here. I was paying too much attention to your voice maybe and suddenly the ambience started playing a really nice song called pffff in the middle of its beautiful and melodious dark angel words. Leaving that aside, I'm really thankfull that you made this little showcase on how you cut your magnificent vtuber, I'm learning for the first time how to do this kind of art, I've been a png vtuber for two years and rigging prices can be a little bit over the usual month salary expenses so I'll have to teach myself how to do all this stuff from level 1. Your guide actually helps a lot and gives me some ideas to what to add and what to modify. Really fan of the style you gave to your vtuber self, it's really unique in the best kind of way, definitely shows the hard work you did. I wish you a very much rewarded career as a vtuber!

The video is absolutely amazing 👍 And I would like to know how to separate it instead of what to separate. But still amazing video 👍
@corinavi2244
@corinavi2244 5 ай бұрын
It's honestly just setting it up so a lot if already separated. If not that duplicate the layers you need to separate and erasing what you don't need or filling in the areas now missing. I hope this helps

hi I tried to make a model but I was wondering if I need to follow a VERY specific layer order?? TYSM in advance
@corinavi2244
@corinavi2244 Жыл бұрын
The best way I can think of making the layer process is to think if I walked into a wall what would touch first. For example, my highest layers in my order are my head feathers, then bangs, followed by head components so on and so on. There isn't really any bad way of doing it but you want your model to look the way you imagined before it goes into Live2D I hope this helps

I know this is an old video but i watched a few tutorials and nobody seems to say what do you do after you cut up diffrent parts, like for example the eyes... u separate the eyes features and then u put them back? whats the point of separating if all ur doing is just separating all the pieces and putting them back... sry im just rly new to this.
@corinavi2244
@corinavi2244 5 ай бұрын
No please don't feel bad, I believe you are asking why all the parts go back to where they where originally in the art. If this is so I do not merge these layers together think of it as the model is a stack of papers and each piece of paper is a different part of the model. You want all these layers to bring it into Live2D Cubism as this is where you rig and animate the model to move. I hope this helped. If not no worries just point to the exact part you are lost and I will try my best to help

I personally use clip studio paint, but I know people that use SAI paint tool, photoshop, and procreate. Pricing is a bit hard since it depends on your currency but the important thing is you need to ensure the program exports PSD (Photoshop documents). All of the ones i listed do

As long as your resolution is set to 300dpi or higher you should be fine you just wont be able to zoom in as close on the face
