I’ve never used plasticard as all my modelling is done in card, but there are still some things to learn here - especially the cutting. Have subscribed and am looking forward to seeing more.

Thank you, I have moved into using card as formers for many of my buildings now and then are clad with plastikard or textured papers .

Very useful James thanks for this, I do find it difficult myself to cut this stuff the main bit os doing windows.Tim

Thanks Tim. The trick is to just take your time. It can be frustrating taking an hour to cut, shape and file a single window (especially when you've quite a few to do) but it's worth the extra effort in the end.

Thanks James, so is best to paint before or after assembly of the kit?
@JAMESDEMU-RailwayModeller4 жыл бұрын
It would depend on the kit you're doing. On many kits its often easier to paint parts on the sprue but with buildings I prefer to paint them once assembled.

1) How old are you? Your tools are battered and ancient! lol😂 2) You need Engineers blocks to hold things square, they are invaluable! 3) You, like all of us, struggle to cut silly Wills 2mm sheets! I have the answer! Watch for a Vid Bit on my channel for the reveal!

I'm 31 mate. Nothing wrong with old tools, often far better than the modern cheap plastic equivalent. I didn't want to show/use my blocks as not everyone has them but you can build many things without having to use them. A set square or protractor can be used. Yea, they're great building material just quite heavy duty. I actually prefer slaters plastikard but their sheets come with their own set if small problems. I'll keep an eye out for your video mate 👍

@@JAMESDEMU-RailwayModeller I surmised you were not old, so conclude you inherited some tools or bought them second hand, as they are quite obviously older than you are! lol I struggled for years without blocks, just using anything I could find at hand, but bought some a year ago and find the squareness of them invaluable

@@TimberSurf yea, a few were inherited and others bought from various sales & auctions. I suppose it's the same old story for most of us. Make do and mend with what you've got and over time build up your tool kit until you've always got "the right tool" for the job.
