Measure the length you want at the end of the day, add extra 20-25 inches if your fabric is enough. The elastic you will cut will be the extra length you added at last. I hope you understand it?

If you want to know your hip length, it's the measurements from your shoulder to your hip bone. Since there's half cut for this gown, if I add the 4 inches to the half cut, I will get my hip length from the shoulder.

The length of the elastic should be your intended short length after the half cut. For me the length I wanted was 19" so it's easy to stretch your elastic to allow for the whole length. I hope it's clear
