This video I teach how to find angles for trim and set your miter saw correctly. I use Lexivon's miter saw protractor.

Just got a Lexivon. Built to last for generations, and this video confirms how easy it is to use. Bravo to Lexivon and to Sawdust and Wood!

What did "single cut" mean on the protractor ? thanks
@synapticburn8 ай бұрын
I see you make 3 cuts and also you flip the wood over, that's the part that's not clear to a complete novice

What if you can only measure on the inside of that imaginary wall how do you fold that protractor

I like your videos on miter cuts but am curious why, for simplicity, you didn't just show us on your other videos how the miter saw settings (0-45-degrees) correlate with an angle protractor like you did in this video: 40.5 on the angle finder 40.5 on the miter saw. Simple. Clean. Perfect. On other videos, you explained how, for example, 40 on the miter saw actually cuts a 50-degree angle. Though it's true, it's confusing, because miter saws are generally numbered 0-45-degrees. On the protractor, all the miter-cut numbers (inner numbers) will total 90-degrees if you add two numbers that are directly opposite each other on the protractor scale. For what it's worth, I think this was your best video on miter cuts.

Would it do internals . Thanks

The video didn't include that info. Other better videos probably would.

How about some help or a video if the protractor measures a larger than 45 degree miter cut?
@Mechanicalcircus5 күн бұрын
You probably figured it out by now but if it's reading over 45 say like 47 degrees then you just cut both pieces to that degree no biggie. I know it sounds crazy but try it works

It can also be used to calibrate the scale on the miter saw if you don't have a square handy. I have one. The build is sturdy thick aluminum, not made of thin aluminum or steel.

I bought this tool. Haven't cut a good angle yet. Are you cutting both pieces of wood at the same angle? i.e. 40.5° left and right cuts? Or are you subtracting the difference from 90°? I've seen other videos suggesting to do the math. Thanks!
@joeykennedy4183 жыл бұрын
From my understanding of the tool, it does the math for you. For example, if you set it on an outside corner, the tool will point to 45*. Two 45’s will give you the 90. So yes, both pieces of wood are to be cut at the same angle.
