How to Cut Kentou

In class we cut the 'finger gouges' at the corner as well. What is the reason for them to be cut, or not? Excellent refresher video, thank you.

Only just saw your comment now, sorry! Two reasons - they give clearance at the side of the kentou, which means you can clear out the waste very cleanly, and they also provide a gap to lift the paper after printing.
