Does Cricut make vinyl that is 24" long? I can't seem to find anything longer than 12" x 19". Does this mean you can line up multiple 12"x12" sheets on the 24" mat and cut it that way? Thanks!
@CarlyKeller4 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure about Cricut, but the vinyl I use has many different size options, including 12" rolls that are 100's of feet long! The product I have linked in the video description is 12" by 10' long. Hope that helps!

I'm so motivated to give my sign a try now, you made it look so easy! I wonder if you've ever created a sign for outdoors. If so, did you still use polycrylic, or something else? My sign needs to endure the winter in the Michigan Upper Peninsula.
@CarlyKeller4 жыл бұрын
Hey Chris! This was an indoor sign so the polycrylic was well suited but would not hold up outdoors. You'd need a varnish or lacquer for a project like that. Let us know how it turns out!

should I use polyacylic on my white wall while stenciling to eliminate paint bleeding? or use the original wall paint? I don't want to pull dried paint up from around edges of stencil.
@CarlyKeller5 жыл бұрын
Hi Aaron! This trick really is just to keep paint from running, so theres still a chance your vinyl will pull your wall paint up.
@AndreaStevens20126 жыл бұрын
LOVE the trick of using a clear coat as the first coat! Game changer for me...never heard anyone do this before. Thanks! Is there a reason why you use polycrylic opposed to spar urethane or a polyurethane? Just wondering if it has proven besst for bleed prevention or ? The piece turned out awesome, thanks for sharing!
@CarlyKeller6 жыл бұрын
Hi Andrea! There are different polys for different projects and surface conditions like indoors vs. outdoor signs :) I have found some good articles about the difference between them on Google. Here is a good one: eztoolhub.com/polycrylicvs-polyurethane/
@AndreaStevens20126 жыл бұрын
Thanks for replying, Carly, and for the link. I will check it out, although I'm fairly comfortable with the differences, it just might provide some new info and I'm always up for that! I was curious specifically to the bleed factor, wondering if you've discovered one prevents bleed more than the other, or if you focus mostly on where it will be hung, indoors or out. So, thanks again! Thanks for sharing!

Hi, thanks for the video. How do you calculate the size based on how big you want it to be? For instance I want to make a stencil for a coffee table, what steps do I need to follow to figure out the print out?
@CarlyKeller5 жыл бұрын
Hi there! I would upload a shape and make it to size as a place holder for your coffee table. Then eyeball the text and resize it til it looks proportionate. In my latest video I talk alittle more in depth about this! Hope this helps :)

When I cut my stencils in design space it creates an inch gap on the sides that are supposed to be connected together to the other part of the stencil. How do you deal with that? I feel like if I cut it, it will be uneven. Yours seem to be even on the sides.

HI Valerie! Yes, I would! You just need to be careful you dont accidentally pull off any of the existing paint/stain while you are applying the new!

Wow! That was GREAT! Thanks for the tip about dividing the project into the sizable pieces that fit the Cricut and also for the fabulous tip about how to prevent bleeding. I just saw something similar and they used ModPodge. Do you know if either is the better product and if one is better at "not yellowing"? Thanks
@CarlyKeller6 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much Charlene! I have used ModPodge before and it is similar to using the Poly. The ModPodge dries very fast, so working with a larger piece like this may be difficult. It also can pool up and be very stark white if you aren't careful :) Hope this helps!

Great video!!! Have an Cricut Air 2 and won't let me cut vinyl anything larger than 9.25 x 6.75. Have tried in vain to find out to change setting. Noticed your restrictions were quite a bit larger (11 x 23?). Thoughts? Thanks so much!
@CarlyKeller6 жыл бұрын
Hi James! Thank you so much! You should be able to do the same with your machine. I think you may have tried the "Print and Cut" option which will limit you to that size. Here is a note from Cricut about it: At this time, Print Then Cut is limited to a 6.75" x 9.25" (17 cm x 23.5 cm) print area on 8.5" x 11" (21 cm x 29.7 cm) material. Maybe try using the 12x24 mat and larger paper size for the print and cut..Or if you are trying to cut vinyl, make sure it is set to cut as vinyl, not print+cut. Here is the full article for more info! Hope this helps :) help.cricut.com/hc/en-us/articles/360009504333-How-do-I-change-the-mat-size-in-Design-Space-

I did really love your sign!!! My question is...once you were done with the mountains, didn’t you need to apply any polycrilic before placing the second vinyl stencil (for your lettering) ? I mean were you able to pull the lettering stencil vinyl without pulling any of the mountain’s paint under it? TIA
@CarlyKeller5 жыл бұрын
Thanks Maria! I wasn't too concerned about the mountains running since they were so light colored. You can paint and use transfer tape without it pulling as long as it is dry. I just used the poly for the darker lettering so it wouldnt bleed, then to seal the entire sign at the end. Hope this helps!
