Good morning everyone, I am glad you all are here every day, it means a lot to me! Sorry, I kinda blended a few of the tips together there but they are still good ones. I'll see you all again tomorrow. I will continue daily videos a s long as I can but there will come a time when I am going to go to a video every other day or so, I will let you know. I don't sell wood, but I do burn a lot. I have about 5 years staked and ready to go, now I just cut enough at my leisure to refurbish what I burn over the winter. When I turned 60 I got lazy and bought a Log Splitter.!

I just cut for my own use, cut on my nephews land by myself, about 6 cords a summer. I have bought logs but the last triaxle load I bought was $750, now that same load is over $1500 , I just do not have that kind of money. I am 76 years old have plenty of time but not much money, and I enjoy working out in the woods and splitting and stacking my wood, gives me something to do that actually is accomplishing something. Oh an I use a little 6.5 ton electric splitter and 16" Husky chainsaw. although this year I did invest in a bigger saw with a 28" bar, ran into a few big trees that 16" saw really did not like, I have one on the ground now that will be the first cut up this spring 30" the 16" got it down but it was a job. LOL

I 1000% agree work, work , work, any moment you can. Even if it 20-30 minutes, it’s all progress. I don’t sell, so ibc totes work great for our farm. Splitting and stacking is a singular step. * also outreach to a near by lumber yard for delivering logs, they have will have “ fire logs”, or “ pallet logs” to purchase. Time is most definitely, your most precious resource!

Good morning Chris!!😀😀 That was great advice for anyone who is going to start their own business. Doing firewood is great exercise. But doing firewood for a living is darn hard work. Having all the toys to make it easier helps. But it definitely takes a long time to get them if you don't go into debt for them. Age and injury have made doing firewood harder on me than it used to be. But it's my favorite hobby to do when I'm not running my tree harvester. I would add one more tip drink lots of water and stay hydrated , dehydration will make your sore back and muscles hurt more and will affect your concentration which is important when running a chainsaw any way I just stopped for a water break and sandwich then I'll be back in my woodyard to do a little more cutting then the rest of the day I'll be splitting thanks Chris for all the great content

All great advice!! My wife and I just had our 1 year anniversary owning and operating a bar/restaurant. It’s at least 80-100 hours per week. You couldn’t be more right. We have a huge outside patio with a fir pit. I kept getting screwed by firewood people. Full cord= 1 pickup load. Green wood. You wouldn’t believe the number of people who just wouldn’t show up. After watching a few dozen of your videos, I decided to take on the challenge!! I now have a huge pile of logs growing behind our building. The tree companies are happy with bringing logs for free. New Stihl MS 390 and a borrowed log splitter, I guessing I have about 10 cords. Looks like I’m moving up to about 120 hours per week and a new side hustle for next year. Thanks Chris for your inspiration. Keep those videos coming. I usually you at 4am before bed. They keep me going.

Years of experience does pay off. Smart smart smart. I worked with a guy where we moved just splitting and storing five times before sold not to mention what he paid for the cut wood. The good thing we would get cut wood at 16 inches but he lost the profit in moving it so many times prior to sale. Not efficient at all. You have the smartest system. One job at a time unless of course you have two people cut and stack works well. You are very efficient. Keep up the great work. Time and money saving as for sure. Great job.

I believe that you are one of the best motivational speakers I've ever heard, and I'm older than dirt! An recovering alcoholic, amputee with one leg and one eye and have COPD bad. I know that starting a fire wood business is not a good idea but would like to split & bundle some wood to sale as a hobby and earn a little side money as I have a good splitter and love doing it. I also have as much locust and cottonwood as I would ever need here on my little acreage. I'm 83 and not used to noting working on something. Is splitting cottonwood as tough as I've been told? What you’ve stated is a Philosophy Of Life - and it’s a Good one. One more “tip” is needed: Rest on the Lord’s Day and keep Him in your life. Get to know Him, and He you! We’re (hopefully) going to spend quite a lot of time with Him in the future, and realizing this will not only improve one’s chances of that being advantageous, but also helps in this life to accomplish one’s goals. All work and no play makes Johnny a dull boy, but all play and no work makes Johnny a very poor boy. I had a firewood business for decades. I only sold wood that was seasoned for a year. I setup a business account with a wholesaler for logging supplies, chains, bars, files on sale. I put the wood bucked up in my garden. Split in the springtime during mud season when I can’t get in the forest. We’re like ants we never stop. People don’t understand. I went through so many wanna be partners in just one day I never seen them again. Lol. I was running a Husqvarna 2100(100cc) saw with a short bar, Time is money.

Efficiency tips. Good - but you're lucky to have the space. I deliver the wood I bring back in my big bike trailer into my front garden, cut and split there.... but it's stacked for seasoning in various parts of my property... and I have to carry the split chunks to where they're stacked. Love the tips. All of my firewood equipment is paid off. I learned the debt lesson in my 20s when I bought and financed everything. I think I am real lucky with my tree service wood. He dumps logs right in my woodyard. Each dump is about a cord of wood and I get 3 to 4 a week. And it's all free for me.

All great tips. I read a quote recently that said "You can quit, or you can work harder, they both hurt. Southerner tip. When it gets real hot, don't drink beer. If you do drink, have whiskey straight or with water. You will sweat much less on whiskey than beer. Moderate use, of course.

Let this ol Arkansas ridgerunner put this video in a nutshell for everyone. The firewood business is not for Sissys! Not being ugly, just truthful. For instance, here is a 65 year old man's schedule. Get up, drink coffee, while watching videos about firewood. In the Woodyard of course. Drink a protien drink on the way to the Woodyard. Clean up the wood scraps from the night before, yes I said night before. Gas up the splitter and 4 saws. Start splitting the 50-150 lb. rounds that I stacked up the night before. This is all done in 100-105 degree temps at 8 am. I am under a portable carport btw. I bring the rounds in my truckbed under the carport and line them up near the splitter. I have a 40 ton county line that I use vertically. I operate it from a very comfortable gaming chair that I robbed from my son in law. Lol I split and stack 2 rows in a tall pyrimid shape on my truckbed and tailgate. About 1/2 face cord. I then go to my prepared 12 ft. long pallets and stack it. If a cloud happens to cover the sun I grab my saws and start bucking logs. I stop around 1pm and eat a pack of peanut butter crackers. All the time I am hydrateing with water and propel. I have a squirrel cage fan from an old central unit ac blowing directly on me at the splitter. About 3pm I drink a tall boy Bud light clamato red beer. Then I am good til around 8 or 9:30pm, which is the coolest part of the day when temps drop to 98 degrees, and the time that I do most of my bucking. I didn't include the crushed L4 and L5 discs that are present from hard living in my early years, or the kneecap that I knocked off in a motorcycle wreck, or the mashed fingers from wrestling 250lb rounds. I am more fortunate than most because I get premium hardwood logs brought to me for free. So many of them in fact that I ordered an axis to be able to keep up with the volume. I have 30 acres of pasture to store them in and it's s damn good thing because it will be a year before I get the new splitter. I just hope I am still alive to split a few cords with it. So around 10- 10:30pm I shut everything down and go home and eat a bite. Go to bed. Watch a couple more in the wood yard videos (you know there are about 750) lol Go to sleep. Wake and repeat and btw I sold some property at a large profit to be able to buy the axis. I have enough firewood now that would have paid for it also. But that would leave an empty woodyard. Been doing this for 1 year and 1 month. When I started this addition 1 year ago I weighed 238 lbs. I now weigh 185 lbs. And I feel like I'm back in my 40s...but with a few aches and pain. And I haven't even talked back pain and an agravated sciatic nerve from lifting 50-150 lb. rounds all day long for 10-12 hrs. Am I bitching? Hell no. I love it. Who wouldn't love playing with their wood all day every day. Lol PS I have to give Chris a lot of credit for his motovational videos. Ain't no 60 year old whipper snapper like him gonna out do me! Lol That's some BS! Rant over. KEEP PUSHING!!!

I completely agree. Enough said.(but I will say more of course) You forgot one tip... You have to be a bit of a trickster with yourself... There are those days for no apparent reason you may not feel up to the tasks.(at least myself anyway) I trick myself... I say to myself just go out and put an hour or two into splitting or stacking... Then knowing my nature, once I'm at the 2 hour point it magically turns into 8 or 9hrs. Some of my most productive days are the days I am sore or feel cold like symptoms and I trick myself just to go outside and then do a "little" stacking...
