You buy them when they are not ripe, you wait for it to be ripe not the other way around. People who squeeze them at the store to check if they are ripe drive me insane. Extra tip: if you want to speed up the ripening process just put them in a paper grocery bag and let them produce high concentrations of ethylene in the paper bag. (Ethylene is produced by plants and promotes the ripening process)

If you want to only scoop the Avocado out, cut the Avocado widthwise in the center and most of the time the seed will fall out (or be very loose). Avoid stabbing yourself with a knife.
