One of the, if not the, best videos on creating foam inlays. I was planning to CNC mill some inlays but that takes a lot of preparation and gives a bit mess so I'll give this I always used a small Olfa knife but using a scalpel works much better and accurate. I will try this on the non-branded foam I have but I most likely will be ordering some larger sheets for a cabinet I am making. Somehow local shops in the Netherlands only sell sheets in 400x600 mm size.

Hi! I encounter a necessity to fit lots of tools within a small tool case, such as pelican. If I need to keep at least 8mm separation between tools, I shall not fit all I need within one case. If I make less distance - the foam will rip sooner than expected. That brings me to the use of different materials, such as EVA foam or PU dense foam, but I didn't find any of these on Shadowfoam website.

Good summary video of the different techniques for cutting the tool shapes into the foam. Can you advise what the easiest way to cut down the depth of a packout insert? I have two 50mm inserts in on case and would like to thin out the bottom insert about 5mm to allow the top insert to sit lower. Tried peeling back, but didn't come out to well!

I still think a good idea would be on your website to have a section where people can upload a picture or pictures of the layout or layouts they want, they pick the size and color of the foam they want and send it to you and you then cut it all out for them and ship it out. I know most people can and will do it themselves, but there could be some people who do not want to cut it out or can not cut it out due to a medical reason or what-ever. There would be an extra charge for this service of course but at least the people who would use this service will know that there foam will be cut correctly by someone who knows how to do it. I don't know, I just think it would be a cool idea for some people. I love the product and can not wait to order some!

SO! I always wondered why you dont get jagged, lumpy bottom surfaces. You build up the foam in layers and use glue that is only tacky so when you pull at the foam cutout it separates at the nearest layer seam. very clever. Next question is how long will the layers hold together before they start to let go? I know....find an adhesive that will remain tacky for 6 Months. after that is will be set and strong. This way you have time to build, inventory, ship and the end user has time to cut, all before it sets. I have worked in an industry that used many different adhesives and those glue chemists are brilliant so I'm sure you can find the glue you need.
@JonaShone7 ай бұрын
Hi Jack, our foam is heat bound, not glue bound which makes it easier to tear but also set and strong.
