Thanks for this, not done plane cut for some time, so it was just the quick refresher I needed. :)

Excellent tutorial. I literally got my first 3d printer two days ago and this excites me for building larger prints. I thought I'd have to be in Blender manually modelling all that stuff out, much quicker this way. Great channel!

First of all, THANK YOU SO MUCH for the tutorial, I spent days looking for an alternative. I would like to ask a question; Wouldn't it be quicker to just make 2 cylinders, remove one from the body, creating the hole, and attach the other to the arm, already creating the connection? Or is there some impediment that I haven't seen? Thanks again!!

Thank you for the lesson. This old man is really struggling with editing... TinkerCAD is easy to understand but it won't load more than 25Mb files so I need to learn how to chop them up with Meshmixer. Thank you for the lesson...

I have done this and have issues with the pin not fitting. Tolerances are too tight. I like to use a rectangle pin, with less chance of misalignment. When everything else is done alter the size of the pin .05 smaller for printing. I like epoxy as my glue and this also gives some area for epoxy to be. Great work all around with this video

It helps if you make the hole at least .3mm larger than the pin. Also, for STL (resin) printing, your exposure time has to be spot on. If you over expose, then pin will increase in size while the hole will get smaller.

Hey man this helped a lot in understanding making the indented part, however I’m aiming to make a swivel action figure joint using the two peg pieces under the miscellaneous tab. (The ones that almost look like a Lego technic pin. Would it be a similar process? I know ones the peg and the other is like what you’d use to make the hole.
@Rise3DBuilds2 жыл бұрын
Yep same process.

Hello and thanks for the great video. I have a problem when i cut my model its empty inside so i cant add alignment pins! Is there an easy way to fill this ?
@sebastianbk4598 Жыл бұрын
is there a way to place the figure in a square and leaving the empty figure shape inside for making molds? also, once again, apreciate the video, meshmixer is a pretty cool tool.

I like it, now we will see if I can do it.

Im trying to start printing smaller figures, do you have any order of videos on where to start and what to understand about how to put more details on a figure using this application?
@andrewgillis30733 жыл бұрын
Even if you're doing miniatures and want to use a metal rod or paperclip to join them, you can still use Meshmixer to make the holes.

Is there a way of increasing the length of the pin so it is longer and goes deeper into the body ?
@Rise3DBuilds3 жыл бұрын
Yes you should be able to drag one end of the pen to lengthen it

How come I keep getting red and blue lines when I try to cut holes into my model? Is there a way to fix this? Im trying to make a socket for a lamp im making and when I cut a cylinder through the model it doesnt let me cut the cylinder through and brings up an error message.
@baljazz Жыл бұрын
This is the thing none of these tutorials cover and it is annoying. They make it look so simple but it's not. You are having a mesh issue which is completely different step you have to do prior to this. One way of fixing it is to make the model solid. However this will cause you to loose details in some cases. Again. Every video I have come across on KZbin never mentions this. I hate that they are like look it's this easy when in fact it's not they way everytime.

Every time i select separate shells, the program crashes, do you have any idea why?
@Rise3DBuilds2 жыл бұрын
Are you running the most current version?
@5hiba882 жыл бұрын
@@Rise3DBuilds Indeed I am, I solved it kind of. I made the model like 1/3 the size and then cut. Maybe the issue was the amount of components to the model I cut.
@Rise3DBuilds2 жыл бұрын
Yep the bigger it is the harder on the software. That one method I approach that issue
@TheIronNoodle2 жыл бұрын
No offense but if you just make one side the hole and the other the pin it’s one step less and less time after. Also if you make the square a rectangle (by a small amount) works better for still models. Toss that together with increasing the size of the hole by .3 (fdm) or probably like .1 on resin it’s Pog
@Rise3DBuilds2 жыл бұрын
Nothing wrong with that. Sometimes I have issues with the pin plus I usually reduce the pin by a percent or to when I print it. But nothing wrong with your method either

During the video you go too fast and assume the viewer is at your level... Viewed the video at least 10 times and still can't figure out when you mention "click shift" is this a control of the program or just press shift on the keyboard. Confusing
@liameleven11 ай бұрын
Yes, it's "Shift (Keyboard) + Click (Left Mouse Button)". In most programs, when you click to select something you can do a Shift+Click to select multiple things and have them all be highlighted. Here the reason you want them both selected (highlighted) at the same time is because you are doing an operation to both of them together. In this case, "Boolean Difference" just means "take the selected items and subtract the areas that overlap".
