I am doing a medieval helmet. I considered what you did but I have a cadet 100,100,120mm and with that many pieces I am worried about the strength at all the edge to edge seams. I came up with a possible solution. Take the original Make copy 1. Make copy 2. scale copy 2 to make it smaller by just under 1 wall thickness. Create a union between copy 1 and 2. The result is an extra thick version of the original. Now do a Boolean difference between the original and the thick version. Now you have a version that fits exactly within the original Now cut up both inner and outer helmet making sure that the seams are always offset and never line up. Now when you print all the parts you end up between with a huge glue area between the inner and outer surface, That's my theory anyway. Sound reasonable. I can't check it in practice yet because my downloaded original seems to be full of errors that analysis won't fix so the Boolean union is not working. Yet

hi ‏Why did I cut and slice my model into pieces with Meshmixer and then put the pieces together vertically in Cura, there were approximately 24 pieces that I was able to prepare for printing in 3 times in Cura, i.e. in 3 stl files, my problem is that I printed the first layer It is printed like a net, which means that it is not like my other prints that the first layer is correct, clean and smooth, what is the problem? I have adjusted my models from left to right and horizontal to vertical to fit more in Cura

very nice and detailed video, thanks for the content. I see we both use the ender3 can you make a video or share a printing profile that doesn't take too long to print? Idk where I f-ed up in mine but the simplest thing just takes tons of hours and the supports are super hard to come out :(

What did you use to glue it together
@Rise3DBuilds
@Rise3DBuilds Жыл бұрын
I usually use super glue, depending on the model I will some time use Epoxy or my favorite is to use the 3D printing pen to weld them together

Good video.... 1 question..when u cut and print out pieces, do the parts print out flat where they connect to the rest of the helmet? Or do they print out with joints? TIA
@Rise3DBuilds
@Rise3DBuilds 3 жыл бұрын
They way that I show in this video they are only flat. In my other meshmixer video I show you how to do it with Joining pins that basically can create a joint effect. I would recommend checking it out.

When I edit a gauntlet in meshmixer save and export to Cura. The measurements I did in meshmixer are different in Cura. For example. The wrist opening is 63.5mm. The elbow opening 76.2mm. When I export to Cura. The openings are smaller then what I did. Is there something I need to turn on or off in meshmixer?

does it worthless for miniatures? I mean pla miniatures not resin? it is useful to cut the model for (pla printers such as ender 3 or ender 5 )? thx!!!
@Rise3DBuilds
@Rise3DBuilds 3 жыл бұрын
Yes I cut up my prints for miniatures with pla printing. Reduces supports, makes it easier to print, and it will allow you to get some better detail. I have moved to resin for minis but you can get some awesome prints with pla and switching to a .2 nozzle.

@@Rise3DBuilds Yep I am trying to get a .2 noozle aswell ... one question... for cutting miniatures ? do I need to planning a keying-pinning (key and hollow structure) for parts? one part is male and other female? or just go smooth and flat and with just "glue" I join the parts? thx!
@Rise3DBuilds
@Rise3DBuilds 3 жыл бұрын
You can do either with minis. The pin gives good strength but often times I will use a hobby drill and make a hole and uses part of a paper clip to connect the parts. I am working on a video on how to do it for the model and mesh mixer

Failed at 3:22 - No printer bed shown or printer in top right corner. Set a printer from 'preferences' but still no show on fresh download & install of Meshmixer how do you get the selected printer to show in top right and have a bed displayed the model should reference to ???????.
