Thanks for sharing! These tips certainly work around Europe and Asia at milongas and festivals.

I also live in Buenos Aires 6 months in a year, and 6 more months in Europe. The tips are very good for Europe. I would not dance with any woman without mirada/cabeceo rituals. The tips she gives do not go against the cabeceo rules.

Always SMILE A LOT and dress up colorful at the milonga’s And if you happened to have a great "tanda" with a guy and you want him to invite you to dance again (that particular night or in the future) try to be extremely FRIENDLY and do not forget to COMPLIMENT the way he is leading you! These tips work fine at least for Buenos Aires :) :)

Très intéressant , à Montréal c'est l homme qui invite, par contre à Québec les deux (homme ou femme) peuvent s inviter . Bravo pour vos vidéos.

I dance in Buenos Aires, and I completely disagree with your advice. This is not the way it's done in the milongas I attend. The invitation is done with a head movement by the man to a woman, who accepts with a nod in return, then waits for the man to approach the floor where she will enter.

I've never danced tango in BA, but have in many places around the U.S. Anne's strategy, in my estimation, would be very effective among female followers in most of the milongas that I've been. The combination of mirada - to acknowledge a partner of interest, smiling - to express one's interest in that partner, and placement - positioning oneself when and where cabaceos will be directed is smart. As a lead, I've seen female followers use this technique to great advantage.

Buenos Aires has a culture that is completely different from UK, where the video was shot. I think the tips she gave were very valuable. The mindset of a latin woman and a latin man is completely different from a British or American for several reasons and the tips given on the video are perfect!

She did not say that the followers now invite the leaders. Of course not. The cabeceo is valid anywhere and I do not accept any dancers (except close friends) in Europe & Asia either who don't ask to dance by head movement.... that said I still think that the tips are valid because ladies that smile and show attention will dance more anywhere they go. ;-)

Jantango Every year I'm staying for 1 to 2 months in Buenos Aires - since 10 years. It changed a lot. As a follower you can invite per Cabeceo, too! And there are a lot of Milongas, were they explain these rules before - officially!
