Dear Egils, This video made me cry. I am a teacher of Iyengar yoga. I am also a writer of fiction. I can't ballroom dance. I have been researching aspects of your discipline for a new short story and I came across your videos. I see what a generous teacher you are and how, like many of us, you are trying so hard to cope with the present crisis. What you have shown me quite clearly is how important it is to have a discipline in one's life, how any human endeavour of this kind elevates us as human beings. The principle character in my short story discovers this too. Best of luck with all your endeavours. I respect and admire your determination. I hope I can follow suit. Best wishes. Janet

@EgilsSmagris4 жыл бұрын

Thanks Ballroom Khiêu Vũ Trí Thanh Official for asking. You have interesting KZbin Channel. Although I do not know dances you teach, my general suggestion is to use better sound of your voice - meaning when music is playing, then voice is difficult to hear. Try to do your teaching tips without music, and after that demonstrate same thing with music. At least that's what worked most of time for me. Wish you enjoy your work and be persistent!

Thank you for the video! Especially the initial footwork. When it comes to walks (men's) could you please clarify at what moment the standing foot is released from the floor: when you put the front foot on the heel, is the standing foot is flat on the floor? When the front foot is going heel-flat, is the standing foot is going to the ball. Thanks.
@EgilsSmagris4 жыл бұрын
Thank you for interesting questions. In Tango standing foot releases heel from floor much later than in swing dances. When body weight moves forward, tray to remain heel on floor as long as possible and as music allows. In central position, when body weight is between feet 50% to 50% then weight is on ball of standing foot and heel of free foot. When exactly standing foot releases heel from the floor? I would say just before front heel strikes the floor. Hope this helps.
