Thank you very much for this tutorial! Whatever the changes I did in the hex editor, I cannot open the jpg file I exported (damaged file). Do you have an idea where the issue comes from?

sometimes if you make changes too close to the very top or very bottom of the code (header/footer) it will damage critical stuff needed for the file to still work. If you're on a windows computer, i'd try opening the glitchy jpg in microsoft paint rather than photo viewer or photoshop because sometimes it's less picky

Is there a way to find where the dimensions values are in the file and change it so that you get a warped diagonal effect?

it's probably possible but you'd need to ask someone who understands the code xD you could try using .tga or .pxr images and in your search-&-replace, pump it up with gibberish like replace XYZ with VWXYZ, they warp in a diagonal kind of way hopefully that's what you're looking for. it desaturates and does stripe colors for some reason. give it a shot let me know how it goes

try opening it in paint, and "save as" new name! microsoft paint is more willing to stomach glitchy JPG and PNG, and will repackage them so photoshop can parse them! :)

this method works! haha sorry it's been like 100 years since i said i'd make an update lol. like image formats, all video filetypes will glitch in different looking ways. suggest you try FLV and quicktime motion jpeg first

Are you putting on the filetype at the end of the name of the new file when you save it? Like image.jpg or what have you

i work on windows 11 , does someone know why even when i change only 1 letter it still doesnt open the file? it always says the file is corrupt for some reason and i save it as a jpg

have you tried opening the file in MS paint? which letter in particular did you change? sometimes if you break something too close to the first or last line, it can break the header/footer and the file's ruined

@@ultimate-grand-tutorial962 same issue here, making only subtle changes to the text (while making sure to not modify the header/footer) and somehow the files get corrupted, whether in the photo visualizer or when tring to open it in paint... I also tried using different photo formats but it doesn't work either, i think it's because of windows 11 which could be quite more restrictive.. If anyone knows how to make it work on windows 11, im all ears!

what type of image are you using? are you typing the right extension for the filetype at the end of the name? like image1.jpg

yup, both animated and still gifs :) they're easy to break so don't go too wild with edits

I imported a bmp file, messed with it, and attempted to export by going file>export>(and a ton of different options in case i could convert them) But I cant find a way to directly export an image file.

+Platnix did you save it as .bmp? can you open it with MS paint? right click the file and see what the file type is. you may have just scrambled too much code

try scrolling through the code and copying a string of characters right from there , "1234" is more of a generic example

@@peach8438 try not disturbing the very beginning or ending of the code it contains vital information to the file type, work on messing up the code more in the middle of it all.
