I'm so glad I found this video! My Nana nearly threw out her compact because she didn't wear makeup anymore, so I saved it and polished it up as gently as I could, and it's cleaned up well! Sadly the mirror (and possibly a mirror guard?) has fallen off, so I'll have to look for a replacement somehow. The one she had similar to the "Cushion" one shown at 24:39, but it's a silver version and doesn't have the slot at the bottom for the compact, and there is a ring like mechanism that holds the powder compact inside, so it must be a newer version. She said she's had it for 60+ years or so; it was bought in Australia, and we tended to get fashions brought over much later than England so I wouldn't be surprised if we got the later model. I love stumbling upon little gems like this, thanks for sharing!

Love these, they remind me of my late grandmother ,she always had a powder compact, I was born in the mid fifties so these were around everywhere, would love to own one of these.Simply stunning

I just found this video - I have I guess what would be a princess, with the stars on the base and on the front is a silver relief of a lady and man in a drawing room in old fashion attire. It is so detailed, and I only found out it was silver when I cleaned it, though it is not marked. It was my grandmother’s.

Max Factor creme puff fits most standard size compacts. Also Rimmel stay matte. And of course the loose powder ones take any loose powder if they have a sifter.

@@brilynn7357 The Rimmel Bronzers also fit, and I believe NYX bronzers do as well. Sadly, I have yet to find blush or highlighter that is the correct size.

I bought a compact because it was pretty, it has stratton on the top of the mirror, its top painted blue with a small silver forget me not transfer design on the top, there's no thumb catch, it has its original sifter and a floral puff, like the quirky one you showed, it also has a blue back, not plain gold like the ones you have shown? Wondering what year it could be? Edit: I think the bottom is painted as it's flaking off where as the top looks new

Great video! I have a compact that's a similar shape to the princess, is a convertible, with some birds on a pale blue background, tiny chevrons on the back and the stratton name. Any idea what year it might be from?
