IMO it’s a bit naive to think institutions are spending millions on developing trading strategies, coding algos and employing the most intelligent people from the best universities to ultimately trade at whole and half dollar levels. Maybe in forex swaps and forwards those levels are traded more often but swaps & forwards don’t really affect the spot price anyway.

There are many types of institutions and international business, I'm not really talking about just traders but business transactions themselves. Another of my past mentors worked in this field. But you do what's right for you 😉

I also work work in the industry, and none of the banks I've worked for are too hyped about it. Sure, they look at levels and combine that with fundamentals to maximise profits. What they do is add to the position in the long run. And yes, their positions do hit stop loss from time to time. One of the most used strategies I've seen is swaps trading. Big Institutions strategies are far from what the retail thinks they are. But hey, if you can make money flipping a coin, why not.
