Hey ya!!! Good day to ya!!! 1st of all, I want to thank u for all that u have taught me since discovering ur channel. Especially about de-grafting as I can't find hardly ANYTHING about it anywhere else on u-tube or even around Google!!! Recently I bought a crested cactus cuz the internet but once it arrived to me, I realized (and was never informed) that not only was it grafted, but the rootstock was dieing!!! Practically complete MUSH! I have only been in the cactus collecting for less then 2 years and have NEVER grafted before, although I have been very interested in learning. But here I am having to learn quickly to de-graft before ever learning to graft 1st! So, my question to u kind sir, is Can I de-graft a crested cactus?? It does look like the rootsrock is imbedded into the cyon. Would I use kinda the same process as how u did the big "Chunker" lol u did?? I mean, to break it all down, I am just wanting to cut out as much of the embedded rootstock w/o cutting too much of the cyan, right?? And I just know that crested cactus grows differently so I am unsure if I can even de-graft a crested one. I wasn't planning on regrafting. I think it would do fine on its own roots. ANY help or suggestions u could give me, I would truly appreciate it!!! There truly isn't much info on Google. I would also suggest u put in a updated de-grafting videos showing us all again ur skills & techniques!! Again, I sure thank u and look forward to hearing back from u hopefully soon B4 this beautiful big crested cactus dies from being on a lame a** rootstock. Take good care & happy gardening to u as well!!! 😊

Hello! Thank you for your message. Sorry for the late reply. Crested cacti can be degrafted, very much the same techniques are used. The crested ones can be a little more challenging but overall the technqiues are the same. If the stock is rotted, remove it all.

Well my requested video finally is out there!!! What in the substance of your white powder your using? Thanks for posting this!

Finally! The white powder is rooting hormone powder, I only use the Yates brand, other ones I didn't find worked well if at all. Glad you enjoyed the video.

How long were these cacti on their grafts? I don't think I heard you say.

Good question! Usually things are grafted for 2-5 years.

You told us in one of your videos why you're using Gardening Lime instead of Sulphur. I can't seem to find this actual moment anymore, do you mind please sharing your wisdom to why? :) I suppose it's much less nasty, but any other reasons?

You have been watching for a while! Yes, I used to use garden lime but I switched to rooting powder as I find it more effective. The rooting powder seems to have some anti-bacterial qualities to it which I found very helpful!

so that brown stuff i always find it on all my degrafts when i first degraft it. i call it internal corking. (no idea what causes it or if its harmful tho i dont think it is. cuz ive left some on and they still root and still alive) (they kinda look like boogers lol)
