Cryptocurrencies and meme-stocks have shown spectacular returns in the past and that's led some people to put a large percentage of their portfolios into high-risk investments. In this video, we look at the other side of volatility (downside volatility) and how that can impact your portfolio. Watched a few videos. Great job. Just checked out some of the ETFs such as the Clean Energy Index. From someone that has spent 20 years in the Energy sector, I would kind of put this ETF in the trend pool as Bitcoin (personal opinion). We are in that cart before the horse stage of this trend. Sure the all the world governments is pushing for "Green" but reality we are a long long ways off from Net Zero. In history, people wanted to fly and the Wright brothers built the first plane then over time moved to jet liners. Well right now we want to skip straight jetliner and not worry about the Wright brothers. Just something to think about.

This year I used the 2021 dividend generated by my self managed RRSP account to buy CI Galaxy Ethereum ETF (ETHX.B) instead of reinvesting in SPY. Plan to do that for a number years to increase my exposure to cryptocurrencies. If crypto goes to zero, it will have a fairly neglectable impact on my retirement. If it goes to the moon, I just enjoy the ride. Agree with you having 5% speculative assets is about right for a well balanced investment portfolio, especially if you depend on it for your retirement.

I think 5% might be more on the aggressive side, and many could just skip the speculative side bets, but I'm more concerned about those who have predominantly crypto or other speculatives bets dominating their portfolios. Seems that's more a function of people not having a portfolio strategy in the first place, though. Cheers!

I would be very interested to see the risk of money in your charts. Ex. if i put some in the cash format. Once again, I might be confused about the goal of asset management. What is the formula of investment hypothetically, Next year = this year * (1 + performance), then where does the risk come in this picture?

Key words “during certain time period” of course banks are going to choose the most volatile period so you mostly invest in stocks. End of the day, stock market is severely over valued and crypto is severely under valued. Choose wisely. Diversification doesn’t do shit if the asset is over valued
