Stress. We all experience it. It's a necessary part of human functioning. We need moderate amounts to operate normally.
However when stress levels become chronically elevated on a daily basis, the effects on a person's health can be catastrophic. That's why in recent years stress is being referred to as "the silent killer".
The list of physical health problems associated with stress is endless: joint pain, muscle aches, stomach issues, chest pains, headaches, blood pressure, heart disease, accelerated ageing, cancer and many more.
Chronic stress is also associated with sleep problems, alcohol abuse, emotional eating, and many mental health conditions such as panic attacks, anxiety, depression, impaired memory, exhaustion and burnout.
Clearly, chronic stress is one of the main issues facing people today. In my opinion "Stress Management" should be taught in schools. Learning how to regulate our own central nervous systems from a young age could be truly life-changing.
In today's video I talk more about stress - What is it? Why do we experience it? What can we do about it?
In the video I share one of the most powerful lessons I have ever learned when it comes to optimising our physical and mental well-being. I suggest maximising the video to full screen to get the most of the beautiful background! Thanks for reading. Enjoy the video.
