I picked up some spent lilies for one dollar each at Lowe's recently. I planted them and had no idea what to do with them, knowing they won't bloom until next year. This morning I walked out and one of the plant's leaves were all yellow. I was so sad because I noticed the others starting to yellow. I thought to myself, "I am not the plant whisperer," in sadness. I'm so glad I searched for this video. Now I know. Thank you. Also, going home to cut off those fruits. I know they are there. Thank you.

I planted one Asiatic lily last year and it didn't bloom. This June 2024 it did bloom with five buds. Two more lilies grew from the first lily, but the two new lilies likely won't bloom this year as I don't see any buds on them. Is that typical? Had I known how beautiful the Asiatic lily was, I would have planted at least a dozen of them last year. This spring I did plant ten more.
@nomadimitri5 ай бұрын
Don't worry: just follow the instructions on the video and you will keep getting more and more. It's ok if they don't flower the first year, they are building up their reserves. Remember: it's what's below ground that is key.

You say that the parent bulb will multiply and produce more bulbs, so is there a point where they will run out of room and the baby bulbs need to be dug up or separated and moved elsewhere? When and how should I do that? Thanks in advance.

Also, mine will have to stay in pots for now until I'm able to have an above ground garden as I live in Las Vegas NV and the soil here is HORRIBLE. Thank you. I finally found a video that explains what to do. But I have a question: I want to harvest the flower to bring inside my house .... where do I cut them from?
@nomadimitri2 жыл бұрын
My instructions are for plant health. But if you like to enjoy a cut flower inside your house, cut it exactly as you want to for your vase

So difficult! My top suggestion: vacuum them with a hand-held vacuum cleaner. I do it all the time.

Thank you. I have beautiful lilies which are a similar colour. I've just deadhead mine. They are mostly finished but there are a small number of flowers left. I have another white lily plant to do next.

Great video. Can I keep pots in shed during winter to protect from frost and do I need to carry on watering through winter? Thanks.

Mulch well and water a few times during the winter of soil really REALLY dry

Very informative with precise instructions. Although, I couldn't just easily snap it, so I had to snip it with shears. Will the plant continue to Bud throughout the season?
@nomadimitri6 ай бұрын
No, the surface part will die away but the underground part will blossom again same time next year

Great explanations! Thank you. Question: the male parts (stamens) that contain the pollen are staining & messy so I like to snip them off before they open up and expose the pollen. Is this bad? Does that hurt the health of the plant at all? You mentioned to wait until the fruit sets before deadheading it. If I remove the stamen before their pollen fertilizes the female part (pistil) then I assume it wouldn't set fruit. So... is not letting it set fruit a bad idea?
@nomadimitri Жыл бұрын
Great questions! Yes, cut those stamens, it's even better. And, yes, in principle, there should be no fruit BUT there are always the neighbor's flowers or just a tiny stamen you neglected that can do the job...

Very impormative indeed..been looking for answers on what im gonna do with my withered lilies/plant but your explanation gives me more knowledge on this flower. Big help Thanks😊😊😊👍👍 Another question is how long does it takes to know if my lilies(bulb) is still alive or just rot underground?
@nomadimitri3 жыл бұрын
Until next spring. But you can cheat in the fall and dig around and feel them (carefully). They should feel hard just like onions
