Yes that is the way breathing helps so much. The breathing in deeply is a go to in lots of situations. In traffic when someone cuts you off don't freak take a deep breath then you calm down.

Hi Dr Hoeflinger, This is not directly related to this video but I’ve been watching your other videos. I’m wondering your opinion on single level spinal fusion (L4 / L5) for grade 1 spondylolethesis, 43 year old male no leg numbness or immobility but constant level 4 back pain. I’m wondering if that’s a surgery you generally want to avoid unless you absolutely need it, or if it is something that can correct longer term back pain as described without complications in the future (normally). Thank you for your videos…great work :)

I had a Clavicle ORIF about nine months ago but over the last couple of months I’ve got breathlessness. I have low BP especially at night (89/50) but in the day it’s roughly 100-90/70-60. Can hypercallus formation cause this for the ORIF? I understand the distance between the clavicle and lung is approximately 2cm

What do you think causes panic attacks ? and I don’t mean what triggers them but what causes them ? I mean it’s far more than fight or flight or anxiety , it’s such a serious reaction - but why does our body and brain do this do you think ? it’s certainly not a survival of the fittest response is it !?!

It might have to do with the amagdyla which is a part of the brain where fear is initiated. Somehow this area must be triggered which sets off a chain reaction thereafter.

@@doctorhoeflinger i actually googled after i wrote this comment, and this is what an article in the NYTimes mentions : “ Many researchers believe that panic attacks might occur when the brain isn't properly able to send messages between the prefrontal cortex, which is associated with logic and reasoning, and the amygdala, governs emotional regulation.” … I think it could have been very important for me to have known this when I used to have panic attacks… I wonder if knowing the root cause could have helped me. Although , I recall that even thinking about panic attacks would trigger attacks. Now, even more fascinating… Why did they stop …. (after i gave birth)
