I’ve been in a panic attack for 5 days straight now. I went to the ER and they told me it was just anxiety. I have the shakes, racing heart, and struggle breathing. I’ve been convincing myself that I’m dying and something is wrong with me. Even tho the doctors said I’m perfectly healthy. But I am so happy to see the comments and know that I am not alone ❤ Hey update‼️‼️. I have been doing much better. It was really rough for 5 months straight. The anxiety turned into severe paranoia and I thought the air and food was poisoned. But now the last couple weeks I have started to finally feel normal again. Thank you all for the loving comments and suggestions. It means the world to me

@charolettschneider6023 hey I know how that feels. I just found out 3 out of 4 ppl in the US are lonely. So that made me feel better because I wasn't alone. I have alot of anxiety when I first wake up. It feels horrible and I pray and breathe. I'm not religious but praying to a higher power helps some. I'm getting off benzos so my anxiety is really difficult. I hope you're OK. I go to the hospital sometime if it gets bad.

I had panic attacks out of the blue for months. They were horrible ; extreme fear, dizziness, nausea, not wanting people around yet not being left alone. Decided to go through a battery of medical test to rule out heart problems, etc. Finally was diagnosed with a chemical imbalance. With some patience of medication side effects, the doctors found the correct regimen for me. Since then I function like I did before the attacks began. My only problem is when I try to alter my meds. I still do the techniques I learned in case I feel one coming, but luckily with the proper medication they are much fewer. They don’t alter my life. I’m in control.

Another thing is when you have really long panic attacks that spiral onto long day/week anxiety make sure you eat. I know it's going to feel like anything you try to eat wants to exit your mouth or makes you're tummy upset, but do it otherwise it'll lead to you dropping so much weight and lead to a malnourishment problems where you slowly have to reintroduce foods. My biggest suggestion on days you feel like you can't because of anxiety/panic attacks is to slowly do it within close hours instead of 3 large meals and maybe try eating standing up instead of down if it feels uncomfortable eating while sitting. I speak of this from experience. Also ensures are really good to drink on those days (just one)

I’ve recently just started having panic attacks and they’ve been pretty sever. One of the main symptoms I get is derealization/depersonalization and that’s what scares me the most. It has rlly helped me to see that I am not alone in this and I hope that in the future I can grow from this and help others who are struggling just like me.

I have panic attacks daily. Usually at night when it’s bedtime. To the point that if I allow myself to fall asleep, I’m so hyper-vigilant that my body notices I’m falling asleep and I wake up with a scare and feel like I can’t breathe. Most nights I have night terrors or sleep paralysis even when I do manage to sleep. Your voice is the only thing that ever makes me feel actually safe. Every time I’ve had a panic attack since I found your channel, as soon as I hear you tell me im safe and I’m going to be okay, i immediately start to feel better. I’ve been trying the techniques you’re describing and it doesn’t work yet. But I have no people for support or to even talk to. I have no friends and don’t talk to much of my family. I’m a trauma survivor and a domestic abuse survivor, I’m all alone most of the time. You are so incredibly soothing and helpful when you explain things. I literally feel so validated when I watch your videos that it sometimes makes me cry because I don’t get that anywhere else. So thank you so much.

Four years ago I had first nocturnal panic attack. I woke up in the middle of the night feeling like dying: feeling faint, extreme nausea, heart racing like crazy, chills and shaking, urgent urinating and diarrhea, cold sweat, blurred vision, tinnitus... On the way to the ER I thought I was passing out and dying, I didn't know what panic attack is. That happened following couple of nights. Then I started therapy because I coudln't function. My psychotherapist told me exactly these things. And it worked perfectly, especially the sentence: Come panic, hit the strongest you can! I'm waiting!

This is probably the best video on panic attacks out there. Just today I was out walking my dog and started to feel anxious, my breathing got faster and thoughts became rapid too regarding I'm going to feel like I cannot escape, what if I get sick and I am not at home etc. Then I started to walk towards my home and my thoughts of panic intensified. I felt really crap like I am going to feel like I cannot escape. And then, my brave part said to me: You can do it, you can walk home calmly and it's going to be okay. In that moment, even more panic came over me. I realised to keep telling myself that it's okay is extremely unhelpful as I am totally gaslighting the part of me that feels terrible. So I said to myself: I really feel terrible right now and it sucks but I am going to make it home. And I stayed with the terrible panicky feeling and in a few seconds it dissolved. I tried this technique several time. It's very hard as leaning into the panic feels like the last thing you want to do but it's the only thing that has worked so far. And it makes sense as I got into this state because my little inner child never got the chance to feel authentic even if I was scared I had to be always strong as my parents would ridicule me or otherwise punish me for feeling vulnerable, fragile, sensitive, sad, upset or down so I have never felt safe with them. Now I have to create that tolerance for any uncomfortable feeling that emerges in me. I owe it to myself.

I never thought I’d actually die because of a panic attack. I can tell myself this will pass, but it took a medical doctor who diagnosed a chemical imbalance and who prescribed medication to get my life back. All the meditation, telling myself I’ll get through this, breathing techniques will help, but living with panic attacks daily is literally not living. The medications have been the key . The other techniques will help but if I have to take meds the rest of my life, like a diabetic who needs insulin, so be it.

I worked for many years in healthcare, in both a general hospital with a locked psychiatric unit and an emergency department and in a state psychiatric facility. I was frequently called to respond to patients who were in elevated emotional states like this. My go-to methods for interrupting panic were two: - Give them a cup of cold water with a straw; or - Get them talking about something that they felt good about. As best I can tell, both approaches require that the person regulate their breathing without focusing on regulating their breathing. The first one worked more quickly than the second, and the second one (when I could get them talking) seemed to establish a more lasting change. I wish I'd realized that before, because I probably would have combined them.

Thank you so much for your videos, Emma. I have been struggling with nocturnal panic attacks for the last couple months. After my first panic attack, I thought I was having a heart attack, and it was one of the scariest moments of my life. I have had several nights where I've slept only one or two hours, and I it made me extremely frustrated as you can imagine. My doctor helped me by diagnosing the panic attack symptoms, but I was still struggling with sleep a lot. After watching this video (and your video on sleep anxiety), I have gone from feeling helpless and hopeless to feeling confident and empowered. When I do have a flare up, I have been practicing your "be curious" technique, and I am no longer panicking by attempting to fight off the sensations of anxiety. Now I am calling them "mini attacks" because they usually pass quickly, and I even feel peaceful immediately after the symptoms fade away. I just had another night of good sleep, and I have you to thank for it. Even when my sleep does get interrupted with an elevated heart rate or anxiety, I am able to get back to sleep quickly thanks to your techniques. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!

I didn’t have my first one until 25, I’m 28. You have to accept that you can’t win all of them, but when you lose a battle. Be kind to yourself. I’ve been mostly panic free for the last year, but the last two weeks I’ve been having them almost daily again, so I’m here with you. Know you’re not alone and that millions of others deal with it too. That alone helped me with some of the reclusiveness. Also, I strongly suggest you get out. Even if it’s for 5 minutes to go to a drive through and get a coffee. Don’t seclude yourself. I have a habit of that and it makes it a lot worse for me, so I have my girlfriend and friends keep me somewhat social. Even if I can only do it in a little spurt. You have to get to the point even when it’s mid panic attack you know you’re safe. I tell myself I’m not going to pass out even though it feels that way because I never have. I tell myself I’m loved by many. I also call my girlfriend, best friend or mother when it’s bad if I feel stuck at the “peak” of the episode. You’ve got this and I 100% believe in you and love you.

I literally had a panic attack while taking a shower and it was really annoying, I literally had to fight the urge to scream and run out of my tub like a mad person. Instead I just sat down in the tub and used the water as a calming sensation which helped enough for me to finish what I needed and go to my room, I still felt dizzy and now I’m watching this video to help me relax and your voice was so soothing, I also liked how you said “these sensations won’t hurt you.” And that calmed me a lot more. I hope whoever finds this video have an amazing day and that they recover from this as well. ❤ it’s hard but I have no doubt that you can get through this. Hey guys, I'd like to share an exercise that might help you calm down at night ❤ Lately I've been very anxious and even after an anxiety attack, I still struggle to feel totally calm, especially at night. So, I created an exercise of imagination: When you're laying in bed and can't sleep, picture a person. A total stranger. Imagine that this person is completely happy and protected. Give them a name, and then picture a scenario where they are going somewhere. For example: Chloe is a brunette girl, she is 25 years old and she is going to the beach today. Then picture Chloe's outfit. Chloe is wearing a pink swimsuit with white flowers. She's got white slippers on and she's got her toenails painted in blue. She has a towel with her. Her towel is also white. Do this exercise, picturing everything. You can picture that Chloe is meeting a friend. Her friend is blond and her name is Kate, she is 30. Then picture Kate's outfit. And so on. You can also change scenarios anytime you want. I have no idea if this is helpful or not, but it has been lifechanging for me, so I thought I'd share in case it might help someone else. ❤ You're not alone.

I had a bit of a scary moment while driving today - a panic attack came out of nowhere. I pulled over and quickly searched KZbin for some guidance. That's when I found your video and I cannot thank you enough! I was really frightened and honestly thought I was having a heart attack or might even faint, but your video helped me calm down and feel so much better. May God Bless you thank you.

last year I had my first panic attack experience but I thought it was heart attack. Started to feel suffocating, heart beating fast as hell, tried to calm down only turned into hyperventilation, dizziness and lose of control. I lost consciousness for a monment. Later that month I went to hospital for heart issue but find out nothing wrong. Only this year, I read some info about panic attack, finally I feel I find my cause. Thanks

Ive been dealing with chronic panic attacks every few months for the last couple of years. They often last 24 - 72 hours and i feel extremely nauseous, puking up everything in my stomach till nothing is left. The only ways out so far have been with prescription pills to knock me out, and hopefully reset me. I end up so depleted that we need to order an IV nurse to get my fluids back up and some anti nausea. This week I had on and off panic attacks for about 7 days until I saw your video after being up all night, trying to force myself to calm down. What you said about not being able to force yourself to calm down, and instead rolling with it, allowed me to actually break the cycle. I felt relieved and when i started reading the comments, i started crying because im so thankful you posted this and have help so many people like me truely suffering with this. Thank you so much.

This video has really helped me, especially reading every one else's comments, it made me realise I am not alone, all your experiences I can totally relate to, It made me so emotional but just what I needed, to cry and released all that built up tension, I only wished I had found this earlier, I have struggled with this my whole life and always thought I was the only one and I must be crazy

Thank you so so much for this video!! I had never had panic attacks in my life until just recently! It all started during a rough pregnancy where I legitimately did about pass out at times! I finally decided this is what was happening to me. After visiting with my doctor, he agreed. So I sat down to look for some tools and techniques while in my rational mind to help when these hit. You described EXACTLY what happens to me and how I feel! It’s all life and light to me! God bless you for your work!

I've listened to this clip so many times so thank you so much!! My night pannick attacks are the worst sometimes especially because of my fear of death. In my childhood I lost my grandmother. She had a brain tumor and after 1 year of struggling we lost her. I suffered so much back then and as an adult I frequently noticed how I am extra attentive to any of my symptoms. Especially...with my headaches that are kind of frequent. I plan on going to the neurologist this year so I really hope I am ok. Sometimes when i try to sleep and maybe my head hurts a little I immediately start thinking that I have a serious problem and that I might die here and now. but "I can handle this, this will pass" .. Hope that anyone who is struggling with anxiety, depression or any mental illness remembers they are strong. Have patience with youself

For me this didn’t help but I appreciate the thought to help out. My main advice to make this appeal to everyone with panic attacks would be cut the intro out of the vid; chances are people who click on are currently having a panic attack and in need of immediate help or relief which an intro will not help provide.

that "let's have the biggest panic attack" solved my problem with panic. I've seen psychiatrists and took medicine(alprazolam, escitalopram etc) during the early days of my panic problems i was so afraid of panic attacks, that i would start to have one.. then one day when i was lying on my bed, i felt the start of a full blown panic attack(because of overthinking of unrealistic things), out of nowhere i suddenly said "ohhh shit i would love to have this, let's go, give me that scariest panic attack", then it disappeared.:D.. Just dont be afraid of that, just embrace it. im still a nervous type but the "panic with no actual reasons" thing already went away or maybe it is still there, but i learned to trick my brain

I don’t really understand how saying” I would love this, let’s go” helps stop the scary thoughts? Mine usually start because I hear about someone that has got cancer or a disease or illness then I start getting scared thinking I’ll get it blah blah blah. I think it comes from watching my mother suffer for nine years and the horrible way she died and my daughter dying in 2005. The weird part is I know I’m going to a much better place when I die wheres there’s no pain and suffering and cruelty and such it’s the process that scares the crap out of me.

Hello! Thank you very much! I am agoraphobic and I also have panic disorder. I always refused to take medication. It is not easy but I really believe I can overcome agoraphobia and panic disorder. I think I'm realistic. I need to change the way I think. I need to remember that those panic attacks are actually a protection mechanism.

@@bookiebird28 Hello. Thank you for your comment. I am sorry for those difficulties in your life. I can relate. It's a tough situation. It may be slow to make progress but I believe there is hope. I believe we can overcome panic disorder and agoraphobia. I did it once. I was totally healed. But everything came back some years later. And now it's even harder. But I think everything starts in the brain. In the way we think. We need to change those beliefs that we have. It's a process. I like this quote: "Fall 7 times, stand up 8". I wish you all the best 😃 Sincerely.
