I think this is a very valuable topic that you explored, thank you! I am not in finance but I feel a lot of burnout at work as well. It's important to be aware of what you can do to feel better.

Hey this is totally off topic but how do you maintain such a nice skin glow? Post your skincare routine lol
@PeakFrameworks3 жыл бұрын
Haha thanks man! Here's what I'd say: 1. Go see a dermatologist. I had great skin effortlessly until mid 20's, then I needed professional help. He prescribed a 0.025% tretinoin cream that I use once at night, which is crazy effective 2. Aside from that, I just do drugstore stuff. I cleanse with Cetaphil Daily Facial Cleanser and use Cetaphil Moisturizing Lotion once in the morning and again at night with the tretinoin. 3. I drink a ton of water and generally not that stressed any more. Skin was def worse in finance. 4. KZbin lighting setup makes your skin look way better too

@@PeakFrameworks amazing! I’ll def see a derm today. I’ve started tretinoin recently but no results yet. I’ve heard it takes time. Would you say guys who stay in finance Long term tend to look old and ruin their skin?

Love the content man. Super informative. Would you consider doing a breakdown/example for “Why IB?” I’m sure the best answers are personalized but would love to hear any advice you may have.

Yes, that's a great suggestion. Won't be ready until later in the year, but I'll get to it

can you do a video on how to know if you would enjoy/do well in IB/Finance?
@PeakFrameworks3 жыл бұрын
I might be able to, but it won't be nearly as helpful as you just reaching out and talking to people in the industry

What's your opinion on the Industry? The 80-100 weeks are demands on analysts from management. Toxic culture? A(hole)-types?
@PeakFrameworks3 жыл бұрын
Pretty brutal at the junior level, but still one of the best career accelerants out there. Good if you don't know what you want to do, live in a Tier 1 city, and develop some transferrable skills. Culture's generally not great, lots of bullies and psychos. You have to have pretty high determination to deal with it.

Can you make video that specifically talks about headhunters(like how would you approach them when you are trying to move from IB to PE or hedge fund. That would be really helpful

Wish I went to Ivey had a PR of Canada we couldn’t afford and the system of loans was something I was unaware of as India it’s not very common. Went to an Indian college and doing backend consulting work for American clients sitting in India ( we get shit roles and even shittier money ) I love matts channel but cry seeing where I am professionally.

Also, a serious question: do you think it's possible (and worth it) to improve your self-presentation skills in order to offset the fact that you have been shirking to protect your mental health? And what can I do if I want to improve in that regard?

I don't have any great tailored advice, seeing a therapist might be a good and healthy step at this point. I think it can also be helpful to sometimes think of it like acting and that you are projecting a certain type of character or person. When I'm nervous, sometimes I'll pretend to be someone who's really good at presenting / confident and it kind of makes me ignore whatever I'm fussed about

Thank you for doing this. Few talk about this. Burnout also hits hard after short, intense stress. Happens a lot on the buyside, esp at multi-mgrs. Btw where do you get your background music for youtube?
@PeakFrameworks3 жыл бұрын
Thank you! For music, I either get them from Splice or it's something I produced myself! I made the outro in this vid

One of the best in the media business, but a very specialized place to be. It seems a bit more like a career banking place rather than a place where people move to the buyside. I don't know any people personally there though, so just an external view. I would still prefer to do the normal EB / BBs over it.

Burnout doesn't only come from long hours exclusively. If someone works 40 hours; but hates their job, if they did that job for long enough they too may experience a burnout.
